It’s so disheartening to see all of these social programs that I thought would live forever be destroyed and show us all just how much we need them as a society. Mutual aid can help us but for how long?

Started watching this season of Critical Role and this latest episode made me realize they’re doing a Twin Peaks-esque reveal/building of the world and characters and it just has me so chuffed
All of AWS went down so we can’t use our mail machine. Almost like… monopolies are bad and maybe the internet should have more free and equal hosting options??
I’m sorry they’re requiring you to use it, that blows. I hope the bubble pops or degrades soon and people can start valuing workers and skills more
The more I’ve thought about it, this is more my position. I don’t cede points to authoritarianism or kleptocracy or bigotry. I see genAI as a growing part of several of those things.
I think I’m going to consider some more tactful ways of saying it, but I’m not changing my mind.
I feel bad that companies are forcing this down worker’s throats and I wish the world was a more human and worker focused place. But we’re going to use all the water and watch the world burn so we don’t have to pay entry level workers or actors anymore I guess.
My partner asked me to reconsider my brash stance and make it more nuanced. I am not sure if I want to. I think being forced by your job to do it illustrates corporate greed and negligence, and is also a function of being cheap and anti-labor.
I was talking with some people last night and I put out my statement “I think people who use gen AI are cheap, uncreative, and don’t have friends”. Turns out the other 3 people at the table all have to use it because their jobs demand it.
I truly believe AI is low-effort and anti-community and I hate to see it
I just barely don’t have carpal tunnel and also my brain is bad at deciding what fingers to turn off. But I got a cool ultrasound!
Sounds like you figured it out. I’m not sure if they’re diabetic-friendly but I usually keep ensure/protein shakes around for when my brain can’t handle the process of preparing foods
So I’ll pass along some recipes but I found a meal planning service (you still have to buy the groceries, but it takes the mental planning load off) that does a week’s dinners called The Fresh 20. It’s like $90 a year but it’s worth it to me. Just want to offer the info as I’ve found it a big help.
Spring is happening and we got a bunch of new flowers so our house is pretty
Night time wackiness lead to my partner and I trying to get each other to say “road railroad engineer rowdy river rubber robber”
Listened to an interview with Senator Fetterman and it just pissed me off. He’s way better than Dr. Oz would be but wtf.
Also fuck private equity destroying whole sectors of the economy.
Packing up my donations for tonight’s Ignite fundraiser at the Fruit in Durham!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 🖤🖤
“Wow you mean everything he says that I don’t agree with isn’t a joke? I thought he was a funny guy making up stories but wow it’s real who could have predicted”
People are mixing up “having autism” and “being Hans Asperger” again
If that falls through, I’d be down to watch it again!
The cookie recipe from the back of the Tollhouse bag has never steered me wrong
I’m still getting used to the way things appear here and I have a friend who does a lot of reposting that can be a lot to work through, so I’ve still been Over There. Plus it’s how I connect to my small biz communities
Got to see #davidlynch ‘s Blue Velvet in a movie theater tonight. I didn’t realize how much of that movie I have memorized! I tried to sit and feel it and listen this time - which was harder at times with an audience who laughed a lot. But the message of love and hope was there, under the darkness
I love this scene from The Fabelmans (& the ending that follows). What a lightning-in-a-bottle casting opportunity.
Someday I’ll get off the Zuck apps but they’re what I update more often.
I’m trying to take a slow January to keep momentum and not overwhelm myself, so a few creative hours here and there.
I usually try for instrumental stuff. I mostly need music to keep me focused so I use funk at work because it has a good tempo that keeps me alert
The fact that Republicans are attempting to straight up steal a Supreme Court seat in North Carolina by invalidating over 60,000 legally-cast votes should be getting a lot more attention than it is.
Some years, it’s resolutions. Some years, it’s words. I think the word for 2025 is Balance.
I want to focus on my day-job career, and try to see how I can balance my talents and time with EMP. The last couple of years have been big bold pushes forward and right now I need a little rest.
Same! The amount of regular job vs holiday stuff is way more than I have time for. I hope you get a relaxing time out of the office!
Always has been, always will be
