First it's ban LGBTQ Pride flags from the library.

Then it's ban LGBTQ displays from the library.

Then it's ban LGBTQ books from the library.

Then it's ban LGBTQ people from the library, which is the ultimate goal.

The slippery slope argument is sometimes a fallacy, but sometimes not.

I still believe in a world where real people make real things and that's in part because this 7th grader crocheted this onto their hair clip, "just 'cause" and isn't that reason enough?

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

Unclench your jaw.

Drink some water or have a nice soothing cup of tea.

Listen to that audiobook you wanted to finish.

Curl up with your pet and tell them how much you love them as you give them cuddles.

Make it a habit to find ways to treat yourself kindly in spite of a world that refuses to.

For nothing is fixed, forever and forever and forever, it is not fixed; the earth is always shifting, the light is always changing, the sea does not cease to grind down rock. Generations do not cease to be born, and we are responsible to them because we are the only witnesses they have. The sea rises, the light fails, lovers cling to each other, and children cling to us. The moment we cease to hold each other, the sea engulfs us and the light goes out.
-James Baldwin, Nothing Personal
