The location of this horrific incident is in a Community Safety Zone, where automated speed enforcement could be installed, that is proven to reduce driver speeding, that may have prevented this horror.

Wish I knew of this site sooner this summer! Hyper local temperature modelling to find real-time cool spots in the city

Uber pickups on main streets should be banned during busy hours. They have the technology to do it. Everyone else needs to walk to get to their subway/streetcar/bike/parked car. Why are Uber passengers exempt?
Standing at the streetcar stop on Adelaide at Yonge and watched in disbelief as an Uber driver sits in the curb lane blocking traffic waiting for their passenger.
Passenger slowly saunters up minutes later to get in.
Individualistic obliviousness.
1960 proposal for a monorail connecting Union Station and the Toronto Islands for $8.6M for the initial system.
Also analyzed: lines from Union to CNE and Union to Malton Airport.
Also it’s so muggy. Sweaty AF and glad for this AC on this streetcar.
Oh look here’s another six minutes later. That’s what our policy-based services — Ten Minute Network, Six Minute Subway, and with the 5YSP Six Minute Streetcar — is all about.
When you just miss a streetcar with. Two full bags of groceries 🥵
-DRAFT
Spent part of my morning today with my colleagues at Transit Control to better understand some of our route management challenges as we look to tackle bunching and gapping and improve service quality
Hey Bike Share Toronto riders, please load the back row first in these double row docks. It sucks lifting a bike over top to dock a bike first thing in the morning. #bikeTO
We also need to stop building major health care facilities in car-dependent locations - not just for patients but for its workers as well. Every dollar subsidizing parking should be matched by the same to improve transit service.
Wait til tonight.
Sticker with a maple leaf on a subway platform
These were placed on subway platforms five years ago to keep our distance as we faced a challenging time - spotted one today and it’s now a reminder that we gotta stick together.
It’s Carneyval!
100+ people blocked by one careless Mercedes Benz driver on Gerrard Street at Logan Avenue
Sad to learn of the passing of Lorna Stewart - I’d admired her from early in my career and was delighted to have connected with her more in the past several years through CUTA and other transit forums.

I was impressed with Line 2 in Ottawa and agree it should be explored more in the Toronto region.
Many areas in the city could be well suited for 12-15 minute train service on single track corridors with strategic passing sections.
Omg this look! 🥰
One of the benefits of the new rail overpass of Queen St East is that it increases the vertical clearance at a location where truck strikes of the bridge would take down the overhead at a critical location too often.
This afternoon I’ll be leading a tour for CUTA delegates about how TTC has shaped the city and how our system aims to provide strong multi-modal connectivity.
Can’t join? Here’s the tour map and key stops if you want to do it on your own!
On the streetcar to welcome folks from across Canada to the CUTA conference!
This is by far my favourite tool

New York City will see congestion pricing proceed in the new year. Alongside continued surcharges for ride share, this is how you reduce auto demand, manage congestion, and fund transit.

512 St Clair has permanently returned to streetcar service after the track work in St Clair West station was completed. There is also a newly painted priority lane in front of St Clair Station.
A couple days late and sad I missed the first ride but super gratifying to see the York and Adelaide diversion operating!
What a beautiful way to celebrate one of our greatest designers and champions of public spaces
With meaningful coordination, stronger relationships with the City, and support from our elected officials, we will move buses and streetcars better.
The Spadina bus lane saved 45 minutes at the worst times of the day.
Ridership jumped 33% in the weeks after implementation to 21K per day.
On a full 505 streetcar waiting multiple light cycles westbound while cars park in the curb lane.
Transit Control keeping things well spaced but when there’s this kind of unpredictability it’s tough.
Saturday afternoons are as important for transit priority as any other time.
I answered questions at #TOcouncil Budget Committee today remotely while fighting off COVID. I may have been a bit more wordy than usual — in short, give transit faster/more predictable streets, get more to do other things + shorter journey times 💯
