Just finished this right after having read @hofrench.bsky.social's Second Emancipation, and it convinced me that the African & African diaspora anti-colonial thinkers of the 1940-1975 period constituted one of the great intellectual movements in the history of humankind.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services delayed all payments to providers of 14 Medicaid services in the first weeks of a new system designed to prevent fraud. Providers said the delay caught them by surprise and interrupted payrolls, leaving older and disabled Minnesotans without care.

Graduate seminar did a deep dive on Thomas Paine’s Common Sense yesterday. At the line, “in America the law is king,” they (14 students from 6 countries) burst out laughing. I've been doing this for 35 years and this is the first time that was a laugh line.
