I know maybe 2-3 MCR songs, but I keep running across mentions of them in all sorts of art. I think it’s cool that people are engaging with art in that way, I just want to understand the appeal better I guess? There was a really cool girl at my high school who was the kind of fan I’m thinking of.

On a more lighthearted note:

Can someone explain the MCR/Gerard Way fandom to me? Like I know of him/the band, but it seems like some people take the interest to the next level. There’s a comic artist I like, for example, whose protagonists are all based on Gerard Way. Does the fandom have a name?

No signs of infection, but the site of the pain is concerning enough I need to monitor it. If it gets worse, I’m supposed to go to the ER, but they don’t think it will. Most likely culprit is lymph nodes temporarily upset. Less likely, must watch for, mastoiditis.

I’m sure this is somehow related to why when I try to speak Spanish, German comes out. But I can understand both fairly well in writing or being spoken to me. The language centers in my brain are crossed and deeply confused.

I have a problem when watching Bridgerton, where every time they talk about “the Ton,” I think of pork. Ton in Japanese is pork, like in tonkatsu.

For the record, I don’t buy into any idea of perfection, let alone the ones these chuds seem to espouse. I figure anyone reading my posts knows that, but I want to be extremely clear. I love my neighbors and the good people of this country, immigrants or born here, exactly as they are already.

The “War on Drugs” was largely a way to incarcerate more people and feed the prison labor machine. I worry that the current attacks on immigrants and transgender people are more of exactly the same thing. This desire to make anyone imperfect into an invisible slave of the system. It’s disgusting.

The USA has one of the world’s highest incarceration rates. If you look at a map of where those rates are the highest, and overlap that map with a map of the confederacy, you’ll notice they look nearly identical. Slave profiteers never stopped, they just pivoted their business model.

The prison industrial complex needs enslaved people to fuel the profits of the prison owners. They are highly motivated to lobby for tighter laws, branding more people as criminals. Just look at their donation records for proof. They want more people in prison, working labor for their bottom line.

The current administration is expanding what things are considered a “crime” for the common person, while those at the top commit blatant and unchecked atrocities. People are being arrested and branded as criminals with no due process or fair trial. They can be forced into slavery, here, in the USA.

Periodic reminder: slavery was never completely ended in the US. It is still allowed as “punishment for a crime.” Prisoners can be subject to slave labor. Private prisons make enormous amounts of money from contracts with the government to house prisoners, and from the labor of those prisoners.
