A bit of homework today. We have a couple of talks coming up and though I had a winter shot of the hardy banana bed (musa rajapuri, musa ‘Helen’& a good form of musa sikkimensis) I had no summer shots, then I checked videos and found this flamboyant performance from August!

Bumblebees can fly in a straight line even with a 30 mph cross wind…but perhaps not this weekend!
“Nectar-robbing” is a well-known phenomenon, but a few years ago I saw something a little different- a bumblebee cutting open a trumpetvine (Campsis radicans) flower to retrieve pollen. Does this have a name? #bees #inaturalist #pollination

The government is legally required to make the UK net zero by 2050 , but we’re seriously off track to achieving our climate targets . Warmer homes , cheaper energy , better transport , cleaner air and decent green jobs are achievable . . . but we need action . 1/
