Attorneys are getting content from clients that was generated by AI and is often pretty far off the mark. The problem may be that the client didn't understand the legal issues well enough to give the AI a good prompt, or to critically evaluate what the AI came back with.

We talk to legal professionals almost every day about what annoying task they'd love to automate if they could. #1 answer is...timekeeping. Not even close.

I am slightly surprised that none of the teams I'm in touch with have lost anybody due to RTO. I have to suspect that the difficult job market is making people more reluctant to quit than they might have been a year ago.

Not that surprised. It was almost nice there for a while, but putting all those cars back on the road is going to create congestion again.

Had a conversation with an attorney today where she said "In the past we'd file our motion and we knew to expect the response in about 20 days. Now, with AI, we might get a response in 2 hours."

One underappreciated effect of AI is increasing the cadence of these processes.

I was reminded recently of this little shopping center in Honolulu. It always struck me that it was a nice place, clean, pleasant...somebody had put work and money into creating and maintaining it...but I rarely saw more than a handful of people there.

There's a lot of grey area here, but I think I'd say "4/10 admit to using AI on the job." The real number may be harder to determine.

If nothing else implementing AI in your firm gives you (another) excuse to carefully think about your workflows and processes, document them, and think about ways to make them cleaner, more reliable, and more efficient.
