Map of Southeast Asia using heat colours to show relevant drought risk to vegetation productivity
π± How does drought affect plants' ability to take in carbon?
It's an important question for land use planning and climate policy.
We've developed an open-source approach to calculating drought risk to vegetation carbon productivity across different spatial scales.

Wildlife to replace historical characters on Bank of England banknotes
Nature was the most popular theme among the public, with the new notes designed to deter counterfeiting.
Fully support wildlife featuring on our banknotes, but itβs sad to see that plants will, once again, be treated merely as a pretty floral background to βanimals & birdsβ. Why not feature Bluebell (the nationsβ favourite wildflower) or iconic Ladyβs-slipper Orchid? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

A small selection of the orchids to be seen on our annual Orchids of Rhodes tour
We think a conservation charity shouldn't have to wait for a donation; not for months, and certainly not for years.
We've made our #OrchidsOfCyprus donation to @bsbibotany.bsky.social today, the day after the tour ended. We've donated to them after every orchid tour since Mariposa formed.

Itβs Welsh name is Llygad Ebrill which translates as βThe Eyes of Aprilβ.
Climate change means flowers appear as early as January in Wales. Is a rename due?
