With the help of Willow and her workshop, the player can customize pretty much everything in the village. I had to make so many assets for it but it was all worth it in the end!!

I had made a little mockup for the village when we first got the idea, and it stayed relatively similar to what I had in mind (except at some point I was considering making it in 2D, but 3D ended up being way easier to deal with).

I made some spreads like this for my portfolio with the different models used to decorate each scene... I took advantage of the fixed angle of the camera to put the small vegetation on static quads that I placed manually in the scenes.

I had basically less than a week to make each scene, including modeling, texturing, integrating everything + some simple shader work. Each stage has a fixed path that the camera follows to go from one enemy encounter to the next, so I only had to decorate along that path!

I was so thrilled to get to do 3D scenes for Sword Slash because it had been YEARS since I worked on any 3D stuff. I had to relearn a lot of it (get into Blender also), while still going relatively fast as there was a lot that needed to be done.

Benny (second to last) is a professor on an indefinite vacation at the beach. Cassie is a fairy and hero’s number one fan, so she opens a museum to display their achievements ✨
