I find it extremely difficult to believe that anyone experiencing what honestly looks like the apocalypse is going to regard it as a form of liberation or that anyone responsible for it actually cares about how Iranians regard it at all.
Okay 12-year-old saw me type βlolβ just now and is positively disgusted.
βWhat are you, a MILLENNIAL?!!β
Honey, we wish were young enough to be millennials.
βWhatβs older than a millennial?!!β
Youβre welcome.
What about abandoning self-regulation just for a weekend? As a treat.
I meant beyond vibe coding and prototyping. They're going deep into actual building to become more of a product engineer. I've seen so much more of this lately.
This is why I'm confused as to why so many PMs are overindexing on learning to AI code. There's so much more important work to be done.
Nominations have been extended to 15 March, and if you'd like help with a nomination or self-nomination, DM me for more info.
Without the synthesis process of critique, everyone who vibe coded a thing now has their own mental model, which means they are no longer actually a team.
This kills the project.
When you treat low fidelity artifacts (regardless of the amount of detail) as disposable sketches, this doesn't happen.
Noting for clarity that a lot of people working in software, including software engineers and designers, have a bad understanding of the software design process.

I did a talk at our ProductTank where I talked about the rise of βpunk productsββproducts empowered by the fact pretty much anyone can build anything now, but that are the antithesis of the homogenised βaverage of everythingβ mainstream. Went down pretty well.
What?

My highschool physics teacher never explained anything. I'd ask for clarification and he'd say to read the textbook. I did. Twice.
"It's easy. You just do the math."
I got the math. I want to understand the fundamental principles.
Magnets. How do they work?
Hacktivists tried to find a workaround to Discordβs age-verification software, Persona. Instead, they found its frontend exposed to the open internet, and that was just the beginning.

anyway they had both looms and access to fur. roman boxers had woven fabric gloves. the βknitβ demonstrated was just awful, wasnβt complete, and also thereβs not a single record of βknittingβ anywhere and they made a lot of records
With the cuts to Canadian federal grants this year, a lot of nonprofits are probably going to have to dissolve for money reasons. That's so much community capacity destroyed for "efficiency".
There's so much organizational infrastructure that's built up to facilitate the purpose of an organization. So when bad things happen, the people who care work really hard to hold things together.
That bot that deleted emails of a Facebook βAI alignment specialistβ was a vibe-coded piece of viral slopware. LLMs are being steered into coding because failures are presumed to be easier to spot. But sycophancy, βhallucinationsβ and projection of mind happen with code, even when it βworks.β β¬οΈ
The board wanted "AI", and what they meant were LLMs, not our actual in-house ML models. Simplest thing to implement, then we'll go back to the things that are important.
I keep getting asked the same question: do Team Topologies ideas hold up inside large, complex organisations? In a recent Stream of Teams live session, I was joined by Barbara Arnst from Telenet to explore exactly that. Watch here πβ‘οΈ
Congratulations! I think you should pursue what you want to do. It's easier to get into product later, but much harder to get back into development once you leave.
Dear Product Managers: I swear to you that AI is actually useful sometimes. If you have to throw 400 modal pop-ups at your users to get them to pay attention to your AI feature, you have simply built the wrong thing.
My friend was once the world's foremost expert on medieval French popes, so yeah that's a thing!
