I really mean the mechanics. Of course the races and monsters are Tolkien-inspired, but the systems seem to come from a wargames minigame where you enter caves under enemy fortifications? I need to research this more :)
Played Wizardry 1 (the remake from a few years ago) for the first time this weekend, and wow this game showed me how much videogame DNA comes from D&D. So many things that seem obvious to many people (xp, levels, a feedback loop) were probably invented there.
Now to find what D&D is inspired by.
I try putting a lot of those in my latest projects!

yeah same. If a game is available on multiple platforms, I'll try one that isn't steam, and I've had situations where I didn't buy a game because it was unavailable anywhere else. Not worth it.
I've had issues with the newgrounds culture as well, but at least uploading there is free and every one of my games have been seen/played/commented on. They are organically recommended to the audience.
On steam, there's dated culture, no organic reach, and outgoing links are heavily suppressed.
on my end I've given up on steam, I feel like the platform is actively hostile to the kind of things I'm making and the conversations I'm trying to have X) hopefully it will work out for you!

how is steam working out for you? On my end I haven't recouped the initial 100$ fee yet, and the comments are not exactly what I expected X) Does it get more people to view your poems? Would that be good? (I'm glad I found your games on itch btw)

once again hoping for copyright law to be abolished because it does not protect my games from being uploaded to random scraping websites, but anyone could copyright troll me into having my own things removed with no repercussions.
Also Nintendo can nuke me twice for a free fangame.
it shows to me that copyright law is a scam that disproportionately benefits the ones who abuse it, and does not actually protect works of art / artists.
