Yes! I started watching it on a plane this week and got hooked.
Itβs like The Real Housewives for straight men lol
A recent Atlantic column claimed society is allegedly "transing" effeminate boys. For my @xtramagazine.com column this month, I wrote a rebuttal using my own experience as a young, closeted trans girl. xtramagazine.com/power/identi...
We watched it in the middle of the day over the holidays at my in-laws's n Saskatchewan andβsecond to an actual theatre with good soundβthat is the ideal way to consume it.
A movie to watch with a father-in-law ... and I mean that as a compliment!!
I dunno, maybe I have bad taste haha.
But I had way more fun watching F1 (and marvelled at its filmmaking!) than a lot of other Best Picture contenders from recent years.
I honestly felt the same way about Top Gun: Maverick too.
As a culture consumer/critic my tastes overall tend to skew populist, and I think there is a worthwhile measure of the quality of art that takes into account its crowd-pleasing nature.
Say what you will about F1 but it is a MOVIE
I know we are all dragging F1 for being the Oscars conversation, but I have to give it thisβI am now actively interested in Formula 1 and have started following it because the movie made it look engaging to me, and I likely wouldn't have stumbled in if not for the film.
This story is a really comprehensive overview of what we know about what books have been pulled from Alberta libraries.
It also includes this stunning stat β despite having less than 1/8 of Canadaβs population, Alberta accounted THREE QUARTERS of all Canadian book challenges last year
What books did Alberta schools *actually* pull off the shelves in response to a provincial order? It took a lot of work to find out. We still don't have a complete picture. And some schools are still pulling material.
Free speech advocates say it's ban unmatched in Canadian history. #AbLeg By me.
Why comics creators must fight the proposed censorship of H.R. 7661
Being in LA means seeing those self driving Waymo cars on the road and they are spooky and I donβt trust them!!
Itβs 25 C out.
I walked around the beach in the sun for four hours.
Iβm having a patio beer.
And now I have to WAIT like three more months before I get to do this at home.
Being in L.A. for 24 hours is like getting a special sneak peek of summer.
Had such a blast at the GLAAD Media Awards in L.A. tonight!!
It was honour to be nominated in the Outstanding Online/Print Journalism Article category and represent Xtra being nominated for Outstanding Independent Journalism.
Even though we didnβt win, I still looked very hot π
Let me know if you ever want a biking buddy for big seawall ride or something! I also want to get out more this summer!! π΄ββοΈ
There was a whole cohort of journalists from Kentucky at my table, along with a writer whose story about the local queer community in Richmond, Virginia was nominated in my category too (we both lost to an Advocate profile of Sarah McBride, which ... fair!)
Local journalism matters!!
While it was cool to share the room with the Heated Rivalry boys, Quinta Brunson, Laverne Cox, Demi Lovato and LIZA MINNELLI among others β¦ a big highlight was getting to meet and connect with some other folks from the journalism categories doing impactful work across North America

Like, if you're vaguely referring to an "icon" and it's not Liza, that's just a disappointment at this point
At the GLAAD Media Awards tonight they spent the whole show being like βa surprise icon is making and appearance at the endβ and everyone at my table was like βwho are we calling an icon hereβ β¦ and THEN IT WAS LIZA MINNELI AND WE ALL SANG HER HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Like, ok, that is an icon.
One of the more depressing aspects of the GLP-1 stuff right now is how utterly inescapable it is. Whatever you're doing, wherever you are, there are people shrinking at alarming rates, and endless discussion of said shrinking. There's seemingly no place to just *rest.*
Same energy
At the same time, I appreciated that this season had a few normal guys (Vic, Jordan, Connor) who actually seemed reasonable and nice?
Though I fear that the reunion will make me think otherwise!!
This season of Love Is Blind was not as darksided overall as the last one, but there are a few select men who really crack the upper tiers of "worst Love Is Blind men ever"
In an exclusive interview with @thetyee.ca, an educator who testified against Neufled during the tribunal said his posts made LGBTQ2S(IA)+ students scared to go to school because of increased bullying, and pushed teachers back into the closet. My piece today. thetyee.ca/News/2026/03...

If you know me personally, you know I'm a big comics guy.
I did my undergrad thesis on feminist comics, I almost went to grad school to be a comics scholar, I almost did my J-School thesis on comics journalism ...
I've wanted to do a comics project for a long time ... and this one is so cool!!
ICYMI: Xtra is doing something we've never done before -- we're making comics!
And we're bringing in Maia Kobabe to help make it happen.
Stay tuned in the coming months for a new series of original non-fiction comics about LGBTQ2S+ book bans and censorship. ππ
