Closed the playtest last week and been busy implementing changes from players.
Art feedback was clear, the style is too safe for what the game and narrative. Graphical elements lack personality.
Broke away from the clean lines, drop shadows and smooth look.

I took the feedback as a signal that the game is otherwise great, their only gripe is the UI, but it could be also a fundamental obstacle at the moment.

My UI is dogshit and my icons are pixel art placeholders.
Should I release a demo knowing that they are bad/unintuative and can potentially hinder enjoyment?
Difference is about a month of work to get UI into a reasonable spot.

Scaling back feels weird. Iβm not deploying a new build this week because Iβm not happy with all the new stuff that went in. I could do partial updates for sure, but Iβve been doing this a bit intensely.

I think I went full circle. There was a time when Dash Dash Dead had production ready code in prototype stage and there are the horrors I'm committing nowadays to move at incredible speeds.

Firing off builds to steam for the 5th time a day feels quite like this.
New animations are poring in and the build is looking cooler every day. This one is a professional Hunter, it warns you even!

Besides the point but canβt you use @onready? Iβm doing that for most stuff I have no idea when itβll actually fully load.
Or if you feel weird, you could connect a function to a new signal thatβs emitted when navmesh enters tree.
Not me living with the bad decisions I took to get the game running asap. Definitely not me trying to rewrite the last core system to make movement feel even better.
Absolutely for sure not me spending 2 all nighters trying to fix a crash that only happens on release builds.
