So it sounds as if Starbucks is changing its policy and they can now kick you out if you're not a customer, which is inevitably reigniting public discourse about the need for third spaces, and you guys...libraries. Libraries. Patronize your library. Support your library. Tell your legislators to fund your library. This is one of many, many, many reasons libraries are crucial to a thriving community.

I need to address this immediately, because I am WAY too Minnesotan to ever claim credit for this.
I built a thing to point the fire hose of people's generosity in the right direction. That's it.
I am thankful for the piece, because hopefully it means people will donate more money.
Thank you so much!

Which Winter Olympics sport draws 19,000 fans? Hockey? Figure skating?
Nope, it’s biathlon! With 200,000 tickets sold, the event makes up 20% of the Milan Cortina total.
Our income taxes are being used to pay the salaries of pedophiles and those who are paid to protect pedophiles from accountability.

Republican lawmakers pretending that the SAVE Act isn’t a huge problem for married women are either lying or haven’t actually read the bill.

Meditation isn’t thinking about nothing. New research reinforces that it’s a mind-altering, dynamic state that promotes focus, learning, and well-being.
Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.
Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

New: Tech Policy Press fellow Jake Laperruque discusses the privacy risks ICE observers and protesters now face, given the agency’s surveillance practices and tools. Although there are steps the public can take to protect itself, lawmakers ultimately need to enact meaningful policy reforms.
NEW: ICE has a plan to lease offices across the US as part of a secret, months-long expansion campaign.
Today, @wired.com is publishing dozens of those locations. Many are near schools, medical offices, and places of worship.
Vital work from @leahfeiger.bsky.social that I'm proud to publish.
