I’m with my adopted family for Christmas.
This is part of how we spent it. I’m old. And yet.
Sorry "Go to the hospital" camp.
I have and I have been on 111 a lot. Basically I am very much in the "If you even get a tiny bit worse, go the doctors" camp.
I really don't want to spend crimbus in hospital.
I am feeling very sick.
Last few days I have:
- vommited multiple times.
- been light headed to the point of losing balance.
- unable to breathe properly occasionally.
- dealing with intense facial pain, especially on the bridge of my nose.
- almost zero appetite.
If I die, I’m going to haunt you.
Next up I'm reading House of Leaves.
I get the feeling this is going to be a very hard read and I'm going to hate myself for trying XD
Still, to be fair to it, I can see why and how it spawned an entire genre of media, especially in video games. Depictions of Stalkers, the Zone, Anomalies, etc - These parts of the book were great page turners - but to me the overall reading ultimately felt ... weak.
A shame, too.
Right at the very end of my first ever reading of Roadside Picnic. Got a few pages left to go.
I don't know if the English translation sucks but this was a surprisingly difficult read. The translation felt _very_ stilted in parts with lots of repetition.
Glad it's in my finished pile but... Hm.
I know you can't and probably don't want to get into it - I've been in your shoes in my last job - but I want to stress this recent ban-wave has made me delete everything public on my account.
If you won't moderate underage users for being in adult spaces, give us more tools to protect ourselves.
I think the damage this does can't be understated. I was temporarily banned from the game for reasons that were unclear, because of an avatar I still haven't been told the name of, for rules that are vague and open to mis-reading.
But I can report the same nazi group 20 times and nothing happens.

Put a shift in at PHC today for the first time in a long time.
Tested myself while there and tried my best to make sure I could take solid pics, while keeping the complexity low. No post, no VRLens. Just the basic camera, and basic composition.

It's reaching the point where it's making my PC chug on some of those opening missions. But I absolutely will not turn my settings down and you can't make me.
I won't be happy unless I can see _EVERY_ bolt on my 'mechs.

Bugs could be marked “Producer Accountable” which means the studio and devs should take blame and accountability.
However they do this because everyone just blames QA anyways. Things doubly true if the game comes from a big publisher or first party console owner.
Truth: It’s RARELY the QAs fault.
One last one because it gives me the opportunity to grind an axe a bit. Not so much a game but more industry.
If you’ve ever seen a bug and wondered “Did they even test this?” The answer is QA know about that bug and 200 more you don’t.
I worked on Warhawk on the PS3.
If you played the game on an SDTV you were basically cheating. You ran faster, shot faster, reloaded faster, etc.
This is because the animations were all tied to framerate, and SD ran WAAAY quicker than HD.
Marked WNF by the studio and I was asked to keep it secret
I still remember the level skip and weapons code for Tomb Raider II.
Start level, side step left, then right, then left, step back, step forward, turn around three times (either direction), do a forward mid air roll for skip or backwards midair roll for all weapons.
Do it wrong and you’ll explode.
This was also how I ripped the score for Total Annihilation back in the day too.
Still one of the best sound tracks to date and I will fight on this hill.
