Anyone who thought that resting-state somehow provided a privileged baseline rather than a lazy convenience π€¦πΎββοΈ
@samcooper.bsky.social has a soon-to-be released, easy-to-edit fear conditioning/extinction paradigm in PsychoPy called ITEC.
Shouldnβt be surprising coming from someone who has argued in publications that psychedelics should be studied with resting-state because of Heisenbergβs uncertainty principle π
We're still running this survey w/the Center for MINDS investigating factors that produce tangible creative insights from psychedelics. We unfortunately received >10k responses from bots, so we're no longer providing payment, but your responses will help science!

I think this is good for all of us doing basic science research in humans with psychedelics and other drugs (no more clinical trial registration):

And @profdavidnutt.bsky.social coming in with some insider info regarding Crick's psychedelic use.

"Slightly cheekily, I asked him [Watson] why Crick had turned from genetics to neuroscience, and his reply was βit was those psychedelics!β"
Reverse inference can do amazing things, including redefining psychopharmacology in the absence of any behavioral or physiological measures!
In logic we call this a βshit pipeβ because you can put anything in and get anything out of an incoherent inference.
Lest we forget the Satanic Panic.
Q&A with Tricycle Day in which we cover the impact of psychedelics on memory and creativity, as well as a concussion I had that led to my interest in memory. Henry is such a great interviewer and resource for distilling science!

Shit talking like this between these two is what I miss about old Twitterβ¦and yeah, that probably means I should find Jesus or something.
Oooo can you post the full poster and/or takeaways?
Really hyped about being quoted in this Bustle article alongside a mentor of mine for over a decade, the inimitable @charan-neuro.bsky.social. We discuss the potential for MDMA to distort memories rather than uncover forgotten memories.

Switzerland & the ALPS conference was absolutely incredible. Breathtaking landscapes, delicious (and healthy) food, highly intelligent people (and lots of fun), and more psychedelic research than I realized. High recommend for a vacation and the academics.

Come see my talk today at 2:30 PM at the ALPS conference in Geneva!
Monolingualism is a curable disease.
OMG. The survey we posted (won't retweet here) has a >50% response rate from bots. What's worse is that they just sent a flood of emails right now asking for their compensation. Has anyone else dealt with this?
Apologies to anyone who actually responded. Will sort this out soon.
Snuck a lil trick in on the blades for my bday and the homies made this lil vid.
Check out my comment in The Times about MDMA and false memory:

Have you had an insight related to your work/hobby after taking a psychedelic (not a personal insight)? We're running a survey backed by the Center for Minds to understand such insights. It takes ~30 mins & pays $15.
