Sorry to learn we've lost writer, editor, and past SFWA officer Lee Martindale. She was always a welcome presence, not only at cons, but in our wider community as well. I photographed her during better days at the 2008 Nebula Awards weekend in Austin, and that is how I shall choose to remember her.

I've actually got three working manual typewriters (plus one decorative one), but one is not intended to be portable, the other is technically portable, and the one that needs a ribbon is of course the most portable one.

Laszlo is doing so well today that I want to say I was dramatic yesterday, but I know if I start thinking that, his next downturn will be even more devastating.

He was doing good yesterday, but clearly worse this morning. He didn't want most of his breakfast, and I feel like a monster leaving him alone to go to work. I'm scared of what I'll find when I get home, and I'm not doing a great job holding it together in the office right now.

Pancreatitis. Chronic. Don't know if it's primary or secondary, but he hasn't gone two weeks without a trip to the vet since December. He's getting worse even on prescription food and meds, and I can't keep asking him to go through this.

I'm so sad. He's only 10, we should have a lot more time.

At least he defies typical cat behavior by clearly telling me when something is wrong, so I can be pretty sure that right now, he's as comfy as he looks.

Laszlo has been such a good, sweet kitty, and he doesn't deserve this. It's not fair.

After months of going in and out of the vet's and thousands of dollars, I'm pretty sure Laszlo isn't going to make it through this.

I feel bad saying this while he's napping and apparently feeling fine, but I don't know how long that fine part is going to last and I hate it so, so much.

Alas, I am tired, have no equipment or funding, and no support for such a venture, so I'll just occasionally talk about this imaginary podcast.

It would be called The Dinner Bell, and the other half would be actual history, fiction, and the occasional criminal case to discuss reality vs fiction.

Every now and then I'm minding my own business and stumble into a reminder about how often cannibalism rumors are just racist colonialist propaganda.

I'll probably never start that cannibalism podcast, but at least half of it would be debunking racist bullshit.

To be fair to the rest of the show, following up Martindale's performance is a lot to ask.

To be honest about a show I (mostly) really liked, they didn't try that hard.

Ok, while using Tidal for the first time, it immediately introduced me to several new groups and songs I like very much, so. I'm in.

After finding out a little about where they planned to go with the show, I've thought for years that the best thing that happened to it was only getting one season and a movie.

It's ok to let things go. (Especially when the showrunner and a cast member are awful.)
