I never got into Faulkner but I'm a big James Joyce fan. I got a sense Faulkner was lauded mostly for form, stream of consciousness, etc. I can't evaluate how well he did that. Copper-plated American Joyce? I think also a contrast with Hemingway, one terse and the other prolix.

The point being, anyone who's eagerly awaiting or theologically invested in the End Times shouldn't be in government or military command, because they don't give a shit about the actual, real future, let alone the consequences of their actions in the present; they just want the world to end.

I scanned in the typewritten manuscript, stuffed in a drawer for decades, and corrected the automatic typos.

It's well-paced though of course now an alternate history. An interesting window into the time and my father's thoughts.

The Malicide The Malicide - Kindle edition by Boroson, Warren. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading The Malicide.

I gained followers from my discussion of my late father provoking the "Goldwater Rule" that prohibits psychiatric professionals from diagnosing public figures at a distance.

Interested in this unpublished novel by my father from the late 1960s? www.amazon.com/Malicide-War...

I'm quoting from my father's Facebook. In those quotes he mentions a book in which he and the case are featured.

But Ginzburg had fallen under the spell who wrote about m unpublished articleof an Israeli pianist, David Bar-Illan, who told him that Goldwater was schizophrenic. Bar-Illan rewrote my article, taking out all mention of the Authoritarian Personality.
In fury I resigned from Fact. And insisted that my name not be listed as the author of the Bar-Illan article. (Bar-Illan didn’t want his name listed either, so Ralph’s name was on the article.)
By the way, a psychiatrist who read my original article praised it in Psychology Today.)
After the election, Goldwater sued Ginzburg, the magazine, and me for $2,000.000. For libel. I was included because I had foolishly agreed to let my name be used atop a short article about the poll.
During the deposition, I mentioned having read in Newsweek, Time. and perhaps USNews &World Report about Goldwater’s breakdowns.
Goldwater’s lawyer had become famous for skewering J. Robert Oppenheimer during his testimony on another matter.
And now this lawyer said to me, β€œYou know you’re lying when you say you read this in these magazines?”
I was startled by the question. But answered evenly, β€œI read it in Newsweek, in Time, and maybe USNews & World Report.”
The very next day, Fact’s indefatigable researcher, Rosemary Latiimore, produced evidence that Newsweek, Time, and even US News had actually published reports about Goldwater’s nervous breakdowns. My lawyer, Harris Steinberg, happily read them into the record. I then heard friends whisper to Goldwater’s lawyer, supportively, β€œWe never read about this.”
And my lawyer, Harris Steinberg, later crowed, to me, β€œWe really got them.”

Awaiting publication of "Disagnosis at a Distance," on Friday the 15th. Author is John Martin Joy, a psychiatrist. Book is about diagnosiing public figures without interviewing them.
I may figure in the book.
While working for Fact magazine in the 1960s, I read that Barry Goldwater, a leading Republican, had experienced two nervous breakdowns. I said to Ralph Ginzburg, publisher of Fact, why don’t we ask a few psychiatrists whether a nervous breakdown incapacitates someone for public office? His response: Why don’t we ask every psychiatrist in the country?
So we did.
Ralph and I decided that he would write about the poll, I would write an article about Goldwater himself.
I based my article on a famous study of fascists, the Authoritarian Personality. Fascists tend to defer to authority, for example.
I was proud of my article. I thought it might even make me famous.

My father Warren Boroson contended that Goldwater had an authoritarian personality and cited the work of Erik Erickon. The judge at the trial, dubious of that name, asked my father for his middle name--with contempt, my father answered, "Homburger".

The Goldwater Rule was based on a case involving my father. He was editor of Fact: Magazine, which published a special issue on Goldwater during the 1964 election, called The Unconscious of a Conservative. Psychiatrists were polled on whether Goldwater was fit. Goldwater sued my father, the paper,

β€œMAGA’s fundamental shared quality is a total lack of theory of mind for other people” is a theory that keeps getting validated by reality - look at almost every decision they’ve made in the war with Iran, and how they seem constantly surprised by the unanticipated actions of other parties.

The field of the bright x-ray flare EP250702a as seen by the Einstein Probe.

Last summer, China's Einstein Probe detected an unusually fast, bright x-ray signal.

It might have come from an exotic, previously unseen type of cosmic disaster: a white dwarf star being torn apart & consumed by an intermediate-mass black hole. πŸ§ͺπŸ”

When someone says β€žScientists do not want you to knowβ€œ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

Both Biden and Trump struggled to reach a new nuclear deal with Iran because it turns out throwing out a deal you agreed to after years of negotiations makes it far harder to trust any future deals will be respected.

This entire situation is Trump's fault. Full stop.

The never ending positive reinforcement feedback loop of Trump does something awful, FoxNews and GOP reps are forced to praise it as brilliant, Trump see this and thinks he is indeed brilliant.

Now thinks he yet more brilliant so he does something even more impulsive and stupid. Cycle repeats. ♻️

This is well out of hand. Pentagon is receiving orders from "leaders" with a crusader mentality.

Folks were warned about this when Hegseth's crusader tats were discussed.

That says a lot. When a CEO like Tim Cook is losing sleep after a classified CIA Taiwan briefing, it tells you this isn’t abstract geopolitics- it’s a real risk to supply chains, tech, and global stability.
