you provided shade
and warmth for my poetry
you will live on in spirit
save me a twig
to plant more memories

born ancient
and always ready to die
I will not fight it
welcome it instead
for there is a haunting hollow
a wearying grief
a vast expanse
a chronic ache in the bones
while pondering
where the moral uncertainty
disappeared to
