As an artist sometimes I think I'm just making fun silly little pictures but I do think now more than ever we can all use more that fantasy and escape and joy in our lives. characters and worlds where they have power and things feel like how we wish they could be. It helps us remember and connect with what makes us happy. I think it's really easy to get gloomy with everything happening all at once these days. There's a lot of things going wrong and finding a space to be happy is so hard. One reason I really enjoy cosplay photography is that it gives people an escape into infinityspiral.com
I found an old post I made that gave me a renewed boost to keep on making things. Maybe it will help you out too.
Think small and try to internalize your locus of control as much as possible by listing things you can affect. It reorients your focus to things that are possible and movable. Also mindfulness exercises like focusing on your immediate 5 senses for 3 minutes a day can stop draining thought cycles.
White balance cards do help a lot with nailing color every time. I switched to a crumpled up piece of white paper. The folds reflect light from a wider sample of angles across a bigger surface area. You can use it for exposure too if you know how many stops to overexpose the paper after the reading.
Heck yeah have to make braving the polar snap worth it

I find this stuff so interesting even for post work in photography. The more years I edit the more I move away from global changes and instead find these little pockets of an image that need help. I'm constantly bouncing techniques and theory between illustration and photography.
Getting more dynamic range with Fujifilm jpgs is so easy!
Just bump the Iso +1 stop past base to enable the DR menu then choose DR200 and the camera secretly captures 1 stop below what you picked to save the highlights and pushes the shadows up in processing. :P

I do think it's a good option but be aware if you're trying it out that it flips your file associations without any warning on Windows. For example psd files don't automatically open Photoshop anymore and many image file types won't open in the default system photo viewer.

Also really interesting is how much a color grade really snaps focus and declutters all that background noise of multiple browns and greens that always occurs when you're working in a forest area.

This tutorial by Jeremy Vickery is great practice for photographers as well as painters. If you can't draw just download a coloring book for practice and think about where the light should go for impact and mood.

Also at the end is one of the best times to ask about goals if you want to optimize planning for next session. Why prep for all the things when you can prep for just the direction they've picked and the next step in each player's goal?
That's the nice thing about this platform is that you can make things at your own pace.
All of my photo art has a really fun memory tied to it. Either visiting a location or running into unique people or even things going wrong we laugh about now. It's like a surreal scrapbook of fantasy anchors to moments in reality. I don't want any of those memories to just be well I typed a prompt.
