Yes, I know I accidentally said "slide rule" when I meant "spirit level" in reference to Les from Big Night Out. I apologise to all BNO pals and that work-shy fop Reeves.
Perfect.
Fingers crossed - a covers album could still happen!
Hey chums, why not take a minute or two to choose your favourite NUMBER FOUR hits and help out our dearest boy @benbaker.bsky.social and his radio adventures!
No, it hadnβt occurred to us, naive little souls that we are!
Seems like Connieβs German pronunciation might be even worse than mine!
Fascinating. That may explain something that will crop up in the next episode.
Oh yeah!
Donβt blame us, blame the record buying public of summer 1960 (and 1990)!
Good morning! Series 5 episode 2 is out now, featuring Orks on Banjos and a lot more Timmy Mallet than you'd expect, plus the usual 60s USA Bilboard number 1s! Enjoy! plinkhq.com/i/1531129636...
See you in the morning for Episode TWO of Series FIVE - the Big Sixties U.S. Sort Out!
BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS: Happy International Womenβs Day. As Beatles fans itβs easy to get lost in the wash of generations of male rock fans, writing and journalism, so itβs a joy to be fan now and there to be many more voices involved in the fandom, it really matters and I hope it keeps growing.
Happy International Womenβs Day. Letβs celebrate the most powerful woman involved in the Beatles story.
Good Human Garreth is presenting a Simpsons inspired show on Good Radio Station Noisebox this Sunday. Listen!
If you havent bought our excellent Minder-themed single yet, tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday which means all the money raised will go to keeping @noiseboxradio.com running and not middle-man fees. Its a damn fine pop record to boot!

A cartoon mouse in a big hat. We can just see his big white droopy moustache. He's wearing cowboy boots and playing a geeeetar. He is a legend.
Who is this character and why does he feature in this week's episode of the BIG SIXTIES U.S. SORT OUT?
Listen (all the way to the end) to find out!
I laughed when Theme From A Summer Place came on as my brain immediately went to Jasper singing and Monty Python too. It was a good discussion of the song. It's more than a punchline now. Welcome back @bigsort.bsky.social!

More classic cars parked on Liverpool's Rodney Street, with the Anglican cathedral and blue cloudy sky behind.
More classic cars.
I never seemed to be at the right end to see what was happening (except for the cars coming down the street)!
I heard suggestions that the street was doubling for Brian Epstein's Mayfair home, but it seems like some Liverpool traffic scenes were happening as well.
Some of the vehicles being used in the Beatles biopic scenes
The scene, such as you could see after dark and with the roads closed off, involved traffic going past including someone on a moped and a number 3 corporation bus. No long lens for me, so if anything else happened, I couldn't tell you!
So I (Paul) hung around Rodney Street, Liverpool a fair bit yesterday to watch the set-up and a little bit of what was going on with the biopic filming.
Some beautiful period cars being used (tax discs reading Aug 62) and modern lighting removed and the victorian street lamps being illuminated.
I wish my eyes were that good
I was looking at my MA dissertation from 2015 the other day which contains a quote saying that the second volume wonβt be out until β2020β. Ah, poor naive days of yore!
Luckily I have access to various newspaper archives, so with the date and knowing itβs the Standard, I could find it.
I love a spot of research!
Beatles in Live World TV Show. Short article in the Evening Standard explaining that the Beatles will be seen working on a new disc at EMI Studios for the international Our World satellite broadcast.
Only one Beatles reference I can find in the paper - information about the upcoming satellite broadcast.
Evening Standard of that day being read. What page, we'll never know, but the front page covers Anti-British sentiment in Hong Kong, desecration of the Queen's portrait in Shanghai, a plea to the BBC from people of colour to ban the Black & White Minstrel show and tensions between Egypt and the UN.
