I’ve said the same thing to three different candidates for office today:
“Every problem you’ll have in your race will likely be a math problem.”
Once you get in that mindset, it all comes together.

I understand holding the disciplinary policy, but not the pay commission. Members wanting FT council - likely the best path to getting that is a commission.
I supported this purchase. I look forward to being to discuss it more. But it's the one I may not support that worries me. I hope we aren't placed in this position again.
Watch my floor speech and read more:
Why?
Because we discussed it all in executive session. That's allowed if information would impact the purchase price.
Although I understand the need to balance negotiations with public interest, I remain concerned about the precedent this set. 2/
In the legislature, we rise to explain our votes.
Tonight, I rose to *not* explain my vote.
I was not allowed to.
The county is spending $26 million to buy and renovate the former Carestream building, but nearly every single detail you would want to know is confidential. 1/
Extremely good news: "Town Supervisor John Perticone, in a phone call Tuesday evening, said the board will not be doing so pending a potential Democratic primary challenge to Trevas."
This is good. The city and county should review our processes as well.
This legislation, long in the works, would require the Sheriff to disclose large surveillance tech purchases.
I've also asked the comptroller to consider tech contracts professional services subject to legislative votes.
Thank you to colleagues, especially President Roman, for helping push forward.
Two vacancies in a matter of weeks, two guys from the Morelle machine tapped for the posts.
What happened when a woman raised her hand to serve is entirely too predictable with this crew. 1/
“Zanoni, the city manager who has overseen Corpus Christi’s descent toward water depletion since 2019 and receives a $400,000 salary…”
I actually wrote to the state comptroller yesterday asking for an updated guidance. Surveillance tech with cloud storage that requires contracts should no longer be treated as a commodity, which can get around legislative votes.
The clerk is giving an update to the legislature today about issues with the new system.
What a great idea. Rochester has to be among the few cities with such a distinctive logo.
I guess this means the contract was signed, and it’s time for the administration to provide it to the legislature, as promised.
I think a lot of people would disagree with an assertion of enough inventory.

For the record, I voted against the Securus contract in 2019 and 2020. I was concerned then and I'm concerned now about how revenues are spent.

Great article on underbelly of a Big Tech Super PAC, shamelessly spending millions of dollars to defeat a guy running for congress. The goal isn't just to defeat him, but send a message.
Even if you take the source of funds out of the equation, some of these expenditures are 👀
For example, why are we spending more than $2,000 a month on water jugs? Is there something wrong with the water (kind of a big deal) or is this just a wasteful perk?
But 13 also screwed up by including bail reform: "If a charge does not qualify under New York’s bail statutes"
All of the cases White was accused of messing up involved bail-eligible offenses.
So they've again misled the viewer.
2/
This is frustrating.
13 should have included all this in its initial stories on White.
Maybe it would have decided not to do the stories at all as a result. 1/
Some are trying to say the state regs are silent on phones.
Weak.
The name of our fund is: Trust Fund 9620, T99 Jail Commissary-Phone
We explicitly call it "commissary."
We also say it's a trust. Trust for whom exactly? Right.
The local WFP hasn’t historically brought a lot of resources to campaigns, though that could change anytime of course.
Labor plays a large role in the endorsement - and labor is with Morelle. That’s my guess on what happened here, but have no firsthand knowledge.
Joe Morelle got endorsed by WFP
Wait what
We know the Sheriff has turned people over to CBP. We don’t know how many.
Reporters simply haven’t questioned him publicly about immigration.
They should take the opportunity at all those bail reform interviews. 2/
Good story - Sheriff won’t say if it’s re-upping Stonegarden grant this year. We should be voting on it right about now. 1/
Legal fees to a firm that does no criminal law, deputy uniforms, maintenance equipment, and office furniture and supplies. 2/
State law requires money from profits on inmate phone calls to be spent on inmate welfare and rehabilitation.
The list of expenditures - which I'd been asking for over the last year and was finally provided - shows a lot of questionable stuff. 1/
