Sen. Blumenthal: I emerged from this briefing on Iran as dissatisfied and angry as I have from any briefing in my 15 years in the Senate. I am most concerned about the threat to American lives. We seem to be on a path toward deploying American troops on the ground in Iran.

Alabama Governor Spares Death Row Inmate Who Didn’t Pull the Trigger

Thanks to public outcry from advocates across the country, Governor Kay Ivey just granted Sonny Burton clemency.

When we come together to call for justice, we can make change.

Elizabeth Warren: "I am a hard no on a supplemental. This is not a war the American people want us to engage in. This is not a war that makes us safer ... No. No more money. The only thing Congress has the power to do is to stop actions like this through the power of the purse."

That's a dishonest and bigoted statement from Speaker Johnson.

I know it feels like the day-to-day intensity of the ICE occupation in Minnesota has calmed down, but there are so many lagging problems that need solving, right as people’s attention goes elsewhere. Financial assistance, like help with rent, and legal help for the detained. These horrors persist.

Video appears to show U.S. cruise missile striking Iranian school compound The seven-second video was released by Iranian state media and directly contradicts statements made by President Trump, who said Iran was responsible for the strike.

The Iranian girls’ school was hit by a US tomahawk cruise missile. NPR has confirmed the footage.

Making it clear to kids that being queer is an option, and holding that door open for them, doesn’t make them queer. But it does ensure that queer kids will know your love is not conditioned on their ability to perform cis heterosexuality.

I trust Melody as much as any journalist, but it’s still weird that this story is yet another one that never mentions the mayor of the damn city.

"...and fund retroactive Emergency Rental Assistance before more families face homelessness.

We can look back on pandemic-era protections to see what worked as we address the current crisis...an eviction moratorium and additional housing supports can help substantially, but the time to act is now."

Thank you Jessie Austin O’Neill and Walker Bosch!

Mayor Frey should sign the temporary 60 day eviction notice extension and Walz should enact an eviction moratorium. We fought ICE to keep our neighbors here–now let's keep them in their homes.

A veto of the 60-day pre-eviction notice tells people that you want them evicted into the cold earlier and that you’re unwilling to protect our immigrant neighbors.

Let Mayor Frey know you want him to sign Pause Evictions, Save Lives.

Friends check out this whole thread. We need this eviction pause so badly - not even just the families at risk, who absolutely need and deserve this help, but evictions in these numbers are going to have a loooot of knock on effects. We need to prevent them. Thanks @taylordahlin.com for reporting

i keep pointing out that the landlords could step up and help from their side of this whole thing, but they're showing their whole asses by you know, not doing that. at all.

they seem quietly happy this is happening. not sure what their step 2 is, maybe they think there's always more tenants

09.03.2026 23:54 πŸ‘ 13 πŸ” 3 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 1

Sure seems like if they WANTED to, they could get some uncharacteristically good PR! But they don’t want to.

The policy being debated, which I think the mayor is likely to veto, is temporarily adding an extra 30 days notice (60 total) on evictions thru the summer, after which it will revert to existing 30. Seems like an especially small gesture considering the magnitude of what people have been through.

attorney daniel suitor says that studies by both homeline and city of minneapolis show that 90% of evictions are due to non payment of rent. "most of these are for 1.5 - 2 months worth of rent... maybe one missed paycheck, one broken down car away from losing your home. time solves these issues."

daniel suitor, tenants rights attorney, described eviction court as a β€œcattle call” with 35 cases to be held over 4 hours. in negotiation with a landlord’s attorney, tenants are only asked if they can pay. if they can’t, they’re evicted in about 2 minutes, nothing they can do about it

human toll of ICE occupation is immense, says suitor. education deficits a child subject to eviction faces can follow them throughout their life

each eviction costs the private & public sector about $6800. the average eviction now in minneapolis is about $5200. keeping people housed saves money

Investigators say there are undisclosed detention sites scattered around Colorado, hidden in plain sight between strip malls and office parks.

Secret detention centers. In the United States.

The evidence that the U.S. hit the girls’ school in Iran, killing scores of children, keeps growing.

It’s horrific and not something from which the media, or anyone else, should just move on.

Minneapolis: does anyone have access to the actual wording of the passed policy "Pause evictions, save lives" ? I can find people's thoughts about it but I can't find the actual policy.

(p.s. I support it. Some of the pushback I've received has led me to want more info so I can rebut)
