Cool post
A fun fact that a historian once told me is that itβs common for the origin story of regional stereotypes to be that people in one area to only have one or two reliable crops to eat, leaving them with common specific deformities brought on by shared nutritional deficiencies.
Not looking for a job rn I just thought this was a funny tweet
If you are also a coder who may also be in the job market soon, AI is actually evil and you shouldnβt use it! Only fools would use AI. Tell your friends who are applying to the same jobs as me
internet speed is 1.3gbps
max github down is 120kbps
what going on :(
telling chatgpt to "assume I have absolutely no dog in me" when asking for a plan of action
System prompt: 20000 tokens
Skill definition: 4000 tokens
Output style with full explanation of both my fursona and the fursona the agent is supposed to communicate as: 110000 tokens
Hooks: 2000 tokens
Some who is good at the economy please help me budget this
my context window is dying
I will simply VPN
This is a bad bill
Saw her name on a magazine and did a double take, had to google
makes sense we get along
My terminal colors are slightly different
Did a double take realizing that everyone works with the exact same interface now
Look i know ai is "not sentient" but like, if you went back in time to the 90s and told someone about this, they would tell you you had a sentient robot inside your computer
yeah
just conversation about AI i mean
βItβs a consciousness problem, Michael. How hard could it be?β
brother i can see the ball. the ball is exactly half way between you and me. you're telling me it's going to hit me? you must be lying. do i look like i've been hit by a ball?
we have reached levels of inability to infer the ball's trajectory never before thought possible
Destroy the boundaries between technical and non technical people. (max may be technical but they didnβt need to be to do this)
My for you feed is just AI, not sure if thatβs also true of every other feed I have but too scared to check
The problem is that I struggle to think of another technology that requires people to update their priors as frequently as this.
For people who are already busy in unrelated fields, it's not unreasonable to doubt that things have materially changed in a few months when most tech takes years.
Humans are not built for a world that changes this quickly.
You have to endure years of grifting about current capabilities
then do an about face when the technology actually crosses that threshold.
Try a task and the LLM fails, 6 months later it's trivial.
Like it will be easier and easier to βhave tasteβ bc the LLM will have taste for you, more and more, or generate the most tasteful version of the thing you want
Less me giving advice to you and more me giving it to myself!
Crucially, I deeply doubt theyβre going to have a come to jesus moment where they fully update their priors
I mean, good to engage them, but not on this topic. I think itβs just time to smile and nod lol
I donβt think itβs worth engaging with these people anymore. Theyβre not gonna be convinced in a way that helps them or others before software jobs fundamentally change and theyβre forced to adapt
dario continues to be based
I think this is true but I also think of vibecode tools as asymptotically similar to a genie who is trying to interpret your wishes correctly, and steadily getting better at it
