My quote from an Axios interview, stating that: People often think of climate change as a separate bucket at the end of a long row of other buckets of problems we're trying to fix that are wrong in the world," Hayhoe told Axios. This includes poverty, disease and access to clean water. "Climate change is not a separate bucket," Hayhoe said. "The reason we care about climate change is that it's the hole in every bucket."
If you take the time to read the whole Gates memo (which I did), the bulk of the content was mostly solid and encouraging. Really!
It was the FRAME that was off--very off, from the first line.
And when your framing is off, then how you make decisions and set priorities is off. THAT'S the problem.
"I don’t need to tell you that I am quite distressed about this new era of abnormally hot Atlantic waters and the catastrophic hurricanes that come as a result. Like it or not, you should be concerned too." My reflections on Hurricane #Melissa for @nbcmiami.com. www.nbcmiami.com/weather/hurr...
"...obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither" was one of the grievances against King George.

Experts @timmonsroberts.bsky.social @aronczyk.bsky.social and @johnfocook.bsky.social speak with @trackchangesmedia.bsky.social on the rising threat of climate disinformation in the media, solutions misinformation, and the attack on climate science and scientists themselves.
We covered this on today's @dailybeanspod.com. Extremely dangerous and these ICE agents should be charged with felonies.

Hi King Tides Community! We need your help to photograph the upcoming King Tides. Your photos help us understand what's vulnerable to flooding today, plan for future sea level rise, and get us all talking and thinking about the impacts of the climate crisis. What can we do to make a difference?

The GOP has done nothing on healthcare in the 21st century other than stop Dems from improving it. Literally nothing.

Journalistic freedom is a bedrock of a healthy society and is worth battling for.
Congratulations to @jimmykimmel.com on his triumphant return!
Last night he was pitch-perfect. Inspirational, self-reflective, gracious to his haters, championing the 1st Amendment & most importantly: FUNNY.

Dana Carvey parodied George HW Bush on SNL — “Nah, wouldn’t be prudent” — the President called him up and they became friends. .
Daryl Hammond imitated Clinton through his Presidency, including savage stuff during his sex scandal. Clinton invited him to do a “dueling Presidents” gag.
In her recommendation, Bagdasarian stated, "Any person over the age of six months without contraindication who has not received a dose of a Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved or-authorized 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine may be considered to have an underlying condition that puts them at high risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19 and is thus eligible to receive an age-appropriate dose."
I like this. Since under RFK Jr, Covid shots are now for people with underlying conditions that put them at risk, Michigan’s chief medical executive Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian states that not having the most recent Covid shot constitutes such an underlying condition.

"There is value, still, in a collective response to Official Bullshit."
The DOE Report's callous dismissal of these well-documented costs that threaten the prosperity, health, and well-being of all Americans is yet another reason why the Report cannot and must not be relied on for any decisionmaking, whether by Federal agencies; State, local, or Tribal agencies; or the private sector. The Report should be withdrawn, and frankly, withdrawn in shame. This so-called Report puts the imprimatur of government on what is likely the largest fraudulent operation in American history. No amount of donor money from fossil fuel industry sources to President Trump or the Republican Party should be worth that.
New: Senators Whitehouse and Murray have sent a letter to Energy Secretary Chris Wright laying into his absurd climate report and demanding that it be “withdrawn in shame”

The “problem” with vaccines? They so effective at preventing deaths that they create generations of people that question whether disease was a problem in the first place because they have never experienced the horrors of a world without vaccines.
