So I wanted to make the 1:30 BSO concert today. Google map tells me I should take the 1 bus, but that would be cutting it too close, so I decided to take the red line. The result: I arrived 2 minutes ealier than the bus would. So much for "rapid" transit.

I'm glad it was free and serves a part of Cambridge that lacks good transit. But my god it was convoluted to figure out where it goes and stops at.

I wish Japanese people the best of luck on their future endeavors.

This train set, CRH3C-3060, is the final unit produced in the first batch of orders placed with CRRC’s Tangshan plant. The CRH3C is based on Siemens’ Velaro platform, which is also used by Deutsche Bahn ICE-3.

First time riding a maglev train in life! The top speed I could measure was only around 110km/h, it got me to the airport quickly largely due to there's only one intermediate stop along its 18.5km alignment.

The Baotou–Yinchuan HSR opened on December 23, spanning 519 kilometers and reducing travel time between Ningxia and Inner Mongolia to about 3 hours. This train set, CRH5G-5222, is one of only 12 upgraded EMUs from the original CRH5G platform.

Using HSR for regional rail is an absolute luxury, but I do enjoy a 34-minute travel time between a city pair separated by roughly the same distance as Boston and Providence.

This is harmful not just because it's victim blaming, but that it creates a false equivalence in terms of the responsibility of drivers and pedestrians: "bright clothes, headlights on."

Drivers have *much more* responsibility to keep road users safe! And that includes not speeding.
