👍 Sylva is very good stuff as well as not being Peat Free, absolutely agreed Helen.

Didn’t take long 🤣 #Robins #Worms
#Birds
Good use of “charm” … 💚 Goldfinches.
Rainbows & Robins for most of yesterday and Robins are up and at it for #FirstBirdOfMyDay today.
20 Raspberry canes to be planted out and some final hedge gaps to be filled with 2-3 yr old Hawthorn, Beech and Holly saplings this morning and I am sure Robins will be watching every dig of the spade.
#Lichen on branches with larch flowers….
… for there to be lots of lichen then there must be lots of fungi.
#FungiFriday
Thermal surfing & circling gulls spotted on a late afternoon wander.
#Oaks & #RedSquirrels ?
Two of my favourite species…
A Merlin skimming a couple of feet above the drive, protected from the gusting gale winds by thick hedges on either side. Such speed even though not flapping wings much.
Then I look up to see a Red Kite keeping relatively steady in the winds.
Remarkable displays of flying skills.
#FirstBirdOfMyDay
Treecreeper for #FirstBirdOfMyDay on a dreich & drizzly morning, backing vocals from The Song Thrushes (daily Chart Toppers for favourites) and rhythm from The Woodpeckers.
All the Tits are very busy … there are territories to be marked.
Blackbird for #FirstBirdOfMyDay … in a very “Spring” Hymn…
Some morning… 🌞
A clattering of jackdaws for #FirstDayOfMyBird … chaotic bickering at volume.
#FridayFungi … some of last year’s Bracket Fungus enjoying some sun while slipping off an #Oak #Tree
Fog has lifted…
@hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social
Thick fog here to start the morning but it is lifting and apparently a fine day ahead. 😊
The sharp calls of Nuthatches & Treecreepers for #FirstBirdOfMyDay.
I think some irritation from many of the #Birds that the #RedSquirrels get their own supply of peanuts, hazelnuts and acorns in their lidded box… perhaps jealous of the special treats?
#ThickTrunkThursday - an elderly #Oak #Tree 💚
Curlew calls while in the bath for #FirstBirdOfMyDay… then a fair cacophony when approaching the feeders.
What a treat to see the Barn Owl @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social ; surely an auspicious way to start a day. 💚
Hi Tom … I have been seeing the pollen clouds coming off Yew trees already given how mild it has been here (during days, frosts overnight recently) just West of Stirling.
My dog (8 month old) seems to be getting hay fever in her eyes; Vet suggested Piriteze for her.
There’s always a tweet Danny…
🤣… any sense of trepidation seems to leave Robins when I am digging.
Blackcaps singing their hearts out in the first light of the morning, with not a cloud in the sky after a frosty night for #FirstBirdOfMyDay .
I good couple of days for splitting & transplanting snowdrops in-the-green as rain due Thursday. I expect Robins will be following me after each dig.
Respect the skills 👏. “Still got it” and “Class is permanent” spring to mind.
💚 What wonderful markings.
March sees the return of bumblebee queens as they emerge from hibernation – here are some of the common species you can spot this month 👀

Woody Woodpecker giving a dead tree a proper hammering for #FirstBirdOfMyDay.
(I know they have evolved physiological changes that stops the vibrations damaging them but surely it would hurt if they had been too liberal with measures of Sloe Gin on the night before? 🤣)
#LastBirdOfMyDay - hearing the #geese (Pink-foot, Greylag and Canada) in the dark that are roosting on the outer Park that had been arriving earlier, skein after skein, from the West.
I just hope that the Birds feel lucky that we are sharing their home territories…
… but as we all know that is by no means always the case 😔…
… we can but try. 🙏
