1976 marked the starting year of the bloodiest military gov. ever to occupy la Casa Rosada in Argentina. 30,000 desaparecidos.
The current far-right and negationist regime tries every day to rewrite history. We must not let them.

Yes. This. The fixation with complex systems ignores -for the most part- the ecological component of socio-ecological systems, one of which is the energy subsystem. A while ago, discussing with βexpertsβ, the consensus was that the ONLY thing we must pay attention to is lower emissions. So reductive

The agencyβs new plan for ecologically significant areas of western Oregon is not responsible forest management.
Combined with a buuuunch of female characters in position of power and authority, which balances everything out perfectly.
The CAP has now been pretty much handed over to national governments to use as they please
As a brave Bulgarian minister raises again the issue of widespread corruption, it's worth noting that in BG 2.4% of beneficiaries received 45% of direct payments, while nearly half of recipients get just 3.4%
Israel is bombarding, literally bombarding, two Middle East capitals, Beirut and Tehran, killing 100s of civilians, and yet the US and UK media continue to portray Iran as the threat to the region.
Israel has nukes, but Iran is the nuclear threat.
We live in Orwellian times.
Every single person in the entire chain of command that massacred the schoolgirls in Minab, and that is currently carpet bombing Iranian civilians, needs to be tried and jailed in The Hague. Sick, depraved monsters drunk on imperial hubris.

Just last week the German government gutted the heating law which was supposed to drive a transition away from gas.
The timing could not have been worse: Gas prices are up 50% today and this crisis could worsen significantly. This will happen again and again and the consumer pays the price.

"Permitting reform" routinely fixate on positive electricity system implicationsβi.e., open spigots for capital to build infrastructure to maximize production of new electronsβwhile sweeping aside negative ecological system implications such as, here, old-growth forests in the Pacific Northwest.

Pearce's entire career is defined by an outright disdain for public lands. If appointed, he'll rapidly advance Mike Lee's sell off plans & move to hand vast swaths of America's lands over to private industry.

To those in the replies pointing out that 2/3 of the ag land is pasture, much of which canβt grow crops/trees: true.
That said, ~1/3 of todayβs pasturelands used to be forest. Pasture expansion is #1 driver of tropical deforestation this century. And beef uses 20x the land per g protein vs plants.
Current attack on environmental legislation goes much further than stopping the green deal. It tries to reverse 40 years of env lawmaking.
It will kill nature and people, harm most European companies & destroy the EU which is based on a common rules based market.

π¨π¨π¨ Cool new research on negative consequences of local ordinances restricting renewable energy development. This update shows that the problem is getting worse, with more counties imposing more and greater restrictions.
The answer is not "LeSS ReGulATion" -sorry Abundance bros-, but rather to oversee renewable energy development through a democratic process that is truly responsive, inclusive, and meaningful. Go read @jamesgoodwin.bsky.social if you're interested in learning about this!
