This account exists to spare my friends from my D&D obsession. Lots of Warhammer too. #OSR #TTRPG #40K. Part of the #torontOSR! I run the OSR and Inq28 BlueSky feeds! My blog: save.vs.totalpartykill.ca, just like my username! He/Him.
It had quite the cast too!
The very first (!!) thing I wrote about on my gaming blog was a very short review of Crawl. I was lucky enough to recieve the rare (and very cool) black and black cover.
The original DCC RPG zine is back, bigger than ever. (Literally.) You can help @reverenddak.bsky.social funk a new edition of Crawl's first issue, with an alternate new cover by Doug Kovacs.
Whatever you want to call it: sub optimal operation is all I mean. Instead of super-intelligence you get machines that can’t be assed to work today.
It would be a great irony if the nerds achieve artificial general intelligence, and, like most people, it’s often kind of stupid and irrational.
If you want a proper taste of it, you can actually read a ton of Basileus here - basileuscomic.com - whet your whistle before you scarf down the whole book!
Loving Daniel’s descent into the retro web. He has made a blog roll widget for those of you with static sites (like bear blog). Check it out.
It is basically the source of all piracy on the internet, so I think there are a lot of hosts that exist just to give you access to pirated movies and anime and all that.
Probably weirdo stuff too. It is the internet after all.
alt.games.ttrpg.osr.troika when?
I basically only play Rory, human fighter, if it’s an option in a game. Give me that sweet uncomplicated character.
They are each quite different from one another, and Absolution which came out maybe a decade after the others is different still. I really loved them all. Authority is a really weird one, in a series of weird ones.
Curious about Trophy Dark? I wrote a review after my One Shot Monthly crew played it. www.patreon.com/posts/one-sh...
One of my design heroes has written some incredibly wonderful praise of mothership, highlighting things a lot of people don’t talk about. I’ve got the warm butterflies.

Occasionally the narrator lets us know of some fantasy science fiction nonsense that doesn’t fit neatly into this moment of the tale, so you should read the appendix. This whole story so far has the effect of a victorian travelogue adventure sort of tale, if you know what I mean. Enjoyable.
I really love the art. I should go back and read the Kickstarter updates from her to learn about her process.
Sometimes you read a module and think, “this should probably have just been a novel.” Only Patrick was brave enough to drop any pretence and just write the novel. It’s interesting to read knowing its roots. I can spot what would have been dungeon factions, NPCs, random table of weird talking doors …
COMBAT
Watched the first few episodes again a few months ago. Some of it is a cringe for sure, it feels like a product of its time, but it’s often so great.
Also Christina Hendricks guest star spots on the show are amazing and she’s smoking hot.
I'm collecting thoughts on Metroidvanias in Tabletop and curious on your thoughts.
How can you replicate that experience? Is it just a Megadungeon? Can it work?
Posted about it here: papercult.club/thread/663/m...
Likely to be a long form blog article at some point.
This comic looks fantastic. Low fantasy nonsense that’s what I am talking about.
I'm too old to have any emotional investment in Pokémon, I was 16 when the original games came out, it's not really something I have any real connection with. But (!!) I love that there are two different versions of this book with different Pokémon. That's some top tier shit.
I played it for several years. It's good in that it got me back into D&D, but that's really the best thing I can say about it. Wrote about it on my blog: save.vs.totalpartykill.ca/review/4th-e...
How have I never heard of this card game where Brom did a ton of the art! :o
That high life.
This was written by an actual ex-trappist monk. You can find the translation here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF0C...
The OSR gets a brief shoutout in Sam’s recent video about designing a wargame. I’ve been enjoying listening to his videos about game design. Great stuff.
The last page of the book is this art piece, with hand drawn art and calligraphy, all in Latin. Looks to be the church calling out the armies of hell. 🤘🏾
Trench Crusde has what looks to be a great Mordheim inspired campaign system, and some pretty meaty scenarios, another fun hallmark or Mordheim. And then we come to the end: some words the man himself @tuomaspirinen.bsky.social, and some pretty epic Paul Bonner art! So good!
