Are there great classic Archie comics stories? I tend to think of Archie comics as a sort of uniform substance outside of the weird licensed evangelical stuff. Is there an Archie version of “This Man … This Monster” or stuff that fans all agree is the right place to start with 20th century Archie?
I’ve added a Monorail ride to the Twitch stream, so if lack of mass transport was what was keeping you from taking a look, then great news !
This ad is an Intel ad for MILITARY HARDWARE featuring original Patrick Nagel artwork.
The mind reels
A comic frame from “Maggie the Mechanic” by Jamie Hernandez. A woman is wearing a hoodie with the words “EL SANTO” written on the back in smallish comic lettering. Her brother stands behind her in a button down shirt with “RODDY PIPER” on the back with similar styling. They are both incredible garments and if I owned them I would wear them together every day.
Jaime Hernandez where can I buy these shirts

A photo of a baby bat that looks a lot like my Yorkshire Terrier. So let’s just say “a photo of my dog”, it’s basically the same thing.
Turns out my dog looks like a baby bat
Greg Davies: Great task, well done. Didn‘t eat a thing.
Persephone: Thank you.
Alex Horne: Ah. Well. Let’s take another look at that pomegranate.
This matches my local experience, it seems to want to “over fit” (for lack of a better term) and solve exactly the problem presented. I spend a lot of time saying “Good, but it needs to turn right AND ALSO turn left…”
I like to think about Dino De Laurentiis producing both FLASH GORDON (1980) and DUNE (1984) and thinking about them as basically two at-bats of the same movie.
Cropped photo of a sidewalk sign. Whatever it is advertising is allegedly “Great for the Lymphatic System!”
Unique value proposition

I gotta wonder if part of the American enthusiasm for pizza is that for a lot of folks it’s the only way we eat fresh bread.

Charlotte Rampling’s performance in Zardoz is the most grounded aspect of the movie.
She brings a strange gravitas to a movie that could easily tip into total absurdity.
She's the live action actor in an almost muppet-like cast.
A collage of a pile of little robot / astronaut guys in what is maybe an 8-bit dungeon chamber, along with a telephone on a small table.
Collage of a robot with an exaggerated Elvis pompadour. It is a robot wrestler who only wrestles over the phone.
A collage that looks a little like a battle screen from the old Wizardry or Phantasy Star games, but the monster is a large fish named “Big Probs”
This stream actually evolved from a cohost art thing I did a few years back (years?!) - it’s sort of a spiritual successor to whatever this nonsense was
If you wanted to watch a little 8 bit robot guy navigate a maze and watch some audio only robot wrestling, well now is your chance! I’m streaming at twitch.tv/joeatworld

An obviously sinister clown in an old Nintendo cutscene. Apparently creepypasta, it has a Wikipedia article. Sheesh.
Turns out Circus Caper for the NES was real and not a Candle Cove thing like I assumed : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circus_...
This is so cool! Have you any interest in FORTH, prolog, or something like J (or some other APL descendant?)
