Texas has proudly led student protest movements before.

In 1970, students in Uvalde walked out to protest discrimination & unequal schools. That is Texas history.

The Supreme Court made clear in Tinker v. Des Moines that students retain free speech rights at school. Peaceful protest is protected.

In response to announcement that he will be a new CBS contributor, Andrew Huberman tweeted “I’ve always gone issue-by-issue on health & science, spoken to experts w/a range of takes & presented where I see the center of (data) mass pointed. I’ll do the same with @CBSNews”. In Sept he posted this:

Claiming a Pride flag ban is justified because it also bans Nazi or Confederate flags is a false equivalence. One affirms dignity. The others represent hate. That vote was anti-LGBTQ, plain and simple.

In Austin, a 911 call led to a woman and her young American citizen daughter being taken into custody after an ICE administrative warrant in NCIC was run. No crime. No court warrant.

APD General Orders and training must change immediately.

Texas law requires limited cooperation with DHS, but it does not require local police to detain or transfer people based solely on civil administrative warrants.

AP reported today that ICE is relying on a new internal policy claiming authority to act on administrative immigration warrants without a judge. That shift is under legal scrutiny.

Earlier today Ken Paxton issued an unsolicited opinion narrowing civil-rights protections.

The Texas NAACP warned it breaks with constitutional precedent and threatens lawful remedies for discrimination. Texans should take that seriously.

The solution is to elect @jaworskifortexas.bsky.social AG.

Dr. King warned against systems that hollow out opportunity while cloaking harm in polite language.

Today, on a holiday honoring the late Rev. Dr. MLK Jr., The University of Texas at Austin’s Provost chose to release a memo announcing the wind-down of multiple student- and faculty-facing academic support units.

That decision matters. Timing matters. Context matters.

On today’s show, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social told me House Dems plan to hold out for ICE reforms before supporting DHS funding bill that’s due by end of month. Jeffries wants requirements for warrants and that agents not wear masks during enforcement before Dems support that DHS funding bill.

What happened in Minneapolis is a tragedy. My heart is with the victim’s family and loved ones. There is no justification for violence rooted in hate or dehumanization.

Despite continued GOP efforts to disparage and wreck the Affordable Care Act, almost 80% of Americans, including 57% of “MAGA supporters,” support extending the credits that help families afford coverage. Yet, House GOP are still only offering Nothingcare as their alternative to Obamacare.

After talking with supporters, our team, and my husband, I decided not to file for public office today and will suspend my exploratory campaign for HD 49. I’m truly grateful to my supporters. I believe in @jamestalarico.bsky.social because he fights for Texas values, reproductive freedom, civil rights, and respect for LGBTQIA+ Americans. Nearly ½ of young Texans are Latino, and Gen Z is the most diverse in our history. Our votes can flip seats and give Abbott, Patrick, & Miller the boot!
