In ancient Arab history, dates were one of the most important agricultural crops, being both a reliable food source and form of currency. Dates also play a significant role during Ramadan, as muslims prefer to break their fast with dates and water, following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad. Palestine’s fertile land helps grow these dates, but zionist companies have taken advantage of Palestine’s resources, with 40-60% dates being grown on settlements in the West Bank. With israel generating over $200 million from exported dates, it is important to boycott companies who are profiting from the genocide of Palestinian people.

Dates are one of the products that colonizers take advantage of in Palestine, seizing crops and land to profit off of what is not theirs to take.

Pittsburgh DSA's Statement: End the US War against Venezuela and Release Nicolas Maduro

In the early morning of January 3, 2025, the United States invaded Venezuela and kidnapped President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores. This is the latest in a series of murderous, lawless actions taken by the Trump administration in violation of Venezuelan sovereignty.

The United States government has made plain it intends to seize Venezuela’s oil and install an imperial-puppet regime dominated by American corporate interests. This is simply the latest effort in the United States’ decades long neo-colonialist imperialist war on the nation and it’s people in order to rob it of the world’s largest oil reserves.

Pittsburgh DSA stands in solidarity with the Venezuelan people. We condemn these outrageous actions and call for the immediate release of President Maduro and Cilia Flores and a complete cessation of hostilities towards Venezuela, including an end to the military blockade, sanctions, and horrific strikes on Venezuelan people.
