I remember learning about the Hays Code in film school and how it made it so that any amoral protagonist had to meet karmic justice by the end of the film and going “wow, that’s really silly” and then once a week I log online and see people argue that we need stuff like that now or it’s problematic

really tired of conversations about how we need to get people to spend more time offline that don't acknowledge that one of the reasons people ARE online is their access needs aren't being met in physical spaces. This is especially true for queer people and disabled people.

The kneejerk reaction to say we *should* keep kids out of corners of the internet is one I understand, but this isn’t the way.

We’ve seen this in the gaming space. Parents need to monitor their kids’ online habits, not politicians, and certainly not AI.
