No, no it’s not. It will never not be news to me. We should never look away from harm being done to the most vulnerable people.

I cannot and will not accept that.

We should all be outraged, and we should all be dedicated to figuring out how to stop this crisis.

How did they suffer, enough to make the coroner wonder how they really died?

I was recently told a reader asked us why we report on the abuse of children, sexual and otherwise. Isn’t it routine, so common that it’s not news?

In the news, we deal with death a lot. It never really becomes routine, but I’ve learned how to compartmentalize. That I can deal with this grief later, later.

But this photo, coming from the scene of the suspicious death of a toddler, a baby who never reached 2 years old. This photo broke me.

I want to talk to you about this photo.

At first blush, it’s innocent. Mundane. A forgotten toy left outside a family home.

Forum reporter, 'master punster' lets ink dry on 40-year career Schmidt's peers know that few have done more to get important, accurate information in front of readers. His candy dispensing was pretty epic, too.

A devastating day for The Forum, and a joyous new beginning for a beloved colleague. We'll miss Helmut's quick wit, encyclopedic knowledge and, yes, the candy he threw at us.

Young: 10 years of perseverance Ten years ago this month, my husband was blinded in a collision with a drunk driver. Despite the immense trauma he suffered, he built a beautiful, full life.

"Life without sight can still be full of wonder, joy, adventure, love, humor and even your standard, everyday tedium. Some things are just done a little differently."

I hope you'll take a couple minutes to read this love note disguised as a column about my husband.

The Minnesota House is back in session, but what were Clay County reps doing during the boycott? Rep. Heather Keeler, D-Moorhead, was boycotting the legislative session to deny a quorum with the rest of her party. Rep. Jim Joy, R-Hawley, was in St. Paul with work held up by the ongoing boycott.

A question all Minnesotans should be asking: What were their representatives doing during the last 4 weeks?
