I'd just do a friendly pitch to people in his line and got some sales. Connected to so many people that I'm still in touch with. I slept on a friend's couch. While I was there I made plans to go to San Diego Comic Con with some Seattle artists.
My first show was ECCC 2007. It was in the parking garage of the baseball stadium and I could practically back my car up to my table. I only had a box of mini comics I'd spent a day making at a friends print shop. Tim Sale was next to me and his line encompassed me part of the first day.
I used to love doing conventions so much. Mostly I'd drive to Portland and Seattle but it really invigorated me creatively. I'm really bummed that new artists just don't have the ability to do them.
Take $1B away from the collective 900, that's $1.1M each that they would barely notice. Give it to 333,333 individuals as $3000 checks and that money goes into local economies instead of sitting doing nothing. It actually goes to taxes, actually lowers inflation.
