Spent the morning reading to little-littles at the Arc of Southeast Iowa & Bill Reagan Children's Center! Is having I brought two favorites with me, and they were both big hits!
(No pics of kids without permission!)

Dexter, you can check the bills I've filled in the past. I've co-sponsored CAFO moratoriums.
This is the entire caucus coming together on one set of policy recommendations, not anyone suggesting that this is the ball game.
Governor Reynolds' signed SF 579 - the Enhanced Civil Rights Removal Act, which prevents local governments from protecting transgender people from discrimination.
It's the 2nd bill she signed this year and tells you what this government's priorities are.
Spoiler: It isn't Iowans
Here's the link to the full proposal. It is meant to be a starting point, not anything like an end point. Many of us are working on stronger measures in groups and individually.

"Iowans... are recognizing and speaking out about the fact that we have a real water challenge. And they are no longer asking us to make a change. Some are begging, some are demanding, and some are crying out from their children’s hospital rooms."

It’s time for the Iowa Legislature to take real action to restore and protect Iowa’s water. Iowans deserve safe drinking water and cleaner rivers and lakes. Sign the petition and tell the legislature to pass the Iowa Healthy Water Act: actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...
I've been running into Tom O'Donnell all over SEIA for years now- looking forward to getting used to him at the #ialegis!!
Tom embodies #ConsiderCompassion, and today he filled almost 9 TIMES the required number of signatures, because he's been OUT, actively talking to his future constituents! 🤞
Due to a family timing issue, my March legislative check-in is cancelled.
As always, you are welcome to reach out via social media, email, or phone with ANY questions,, comments, or concerns!

Some bills take more forms, more versions, and more tweaks than is easy to come up with. HF2642 is one of those bills. From HF489 in '25 to HSB713, through 3 committee amendment ideas, with 5 floor amendments proposed, I've devoted a lot of time to the nuances of these changes.
Stayed in DM a day later than normal for an IA College Student Aid Commission meeting, and Grand View University hosted me and three amazing legislators for a great conversation about women in leadership. The young people in this room are engaged, curious, wise, and one will be IA Gov. in 20 years.
Today the Iowa House approved yet another anti-trans bill, to prohibit local governments from banning discrimination on basis of gender identity.
State Rep Aime Wichtendahl @repaime.bsky.social (Iowa's first trans legislator) spoke passionately against the bill:

Ashley Hinson just voted against the War Powers Resolution. This costly war with no clear objective does nothing to help struggling Iowans.
🚨 Deadline alert: March 8.
If you’ve been thinking about applying for a Run for Something endorsement, this is your nudge. Don’t overthink it. Don’t wait for “perfect.”

Rob Sand in Amana: State should recoup incentives awarded to companies that lay off Iowa workers to move production elsewhere
Young children learn best through hands-on experiences. That’s why I voted for Rep. Tracy Ehlert's legislation requiring play-based learning for preschool and kindergarten students, which passed the Iowa House today!
A first for me, but unavailable in a #citizenlegislature for a working Iowan - teaching from inside the old phone both in the House Lounge during debate!
I've cancelled or rescheduled on this student already two weeks in a row, so we're making it work this time around!
Iowa private college officials say a key lawmaker is threatening funding to a state tuition grant program over their opposition to allowing community colleges to offer four-year degrees, @BrooklynDraisey reports via @Report4America.
"Whether one personally uses a Community ID or not, this bill raises a fundamental question: should local communities retain the ability to adopt policies that address local needs?" writes Mazahir Salih, an Iowa City Councilor.

Love the moments of art that living in JoCo, IA brings to my life, like impromptu piano concerts from 7 floors up at UIHC!
Starting the day off right with the JoCo Ag/Business Group, hearing their questions about Geologic Hydrogen Exploration in Iowa with Associate State Geologist Ryan Clark. We are so lucky to have these state resources right in our front yard in @johnsoncountyia and #IADist89!
“'Homeless service providers are doing intensely difficult work across our state,' Levin said. 'They are serving individuals at all different points of life and facing all different kinds of challenges, and they do so with compassion... with an eye to what works.'”

"Taking [the Johnson County Community ID] away is an egregious error," Rep. Levin said. "That strips local control and disregards a proven program that has resounding benefits."

Friends at the Capitol this week!! Jill and Doug were here with the Brain Injury Association, Bill is fighting to Save Iowa History, and Meredith came to talk about reproductive freedom!
The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation does a fantastic job of connecting Iowans with our amazing outdoors all around the state! Check out what's coming up in the next few months!
