Gazzetta article about Pogačar's income. No bonus for winning Strade Bianche last weekend. He's now on a salary of €8 million a year from UAE but only gets bonuses for winning grand tours (€1m for the Tour, €500k for Giro/Vuelta) and €250k for the Worlds

* Bauhaus/Kreuziger won't personally pay, gets netted off against prize pot so almost invisible. 💰 collected normally goes partly to UCI + local federation, here the French fed. In 2024 the UCI collected 🇨🇭270k in fines but bulk of this came from doping/ethics cases rather than race incidents.

Commissaires bulletin from Paris-Nice today. Sticky bottle for Phil Bauhaus who gets a fine*, and Timo de Jong gets a 25 UCI point fine which will sting as he's only on 2 points and his Picnic-PostNL team has only 341 points at the last count

suggest yes, average winning margin in Nice for last 10 years is 27s, we've had two editions with 4s in it and one with 2s

know what you mean. Could just be owning as a way to stay in the sport for Ratcliffe who enjoys the sport but does mean add complications, what nationality, who decides what, recruitment goals etc

as owners? But sounds like some details to be worked out. Co-sponsors can be 50-50, eg Groupama-FDJ is this way and even 50-50 owned by the two sponsors

...comes at a time when Ineos the parent company is under financial pressure, some of the company's bonds are trading at 77 cents on the Euro, yield of ~20% which is not normal.

no, red/yellow cards apply in World Tour races and the punch yesterday was thrown in a 1.2 race

yes in a word but more complicated as this looks be making a rich team richer rather than widening things. We should see more sponsors coming in, eg Decathlon starting a women's team and others

I was asking this too yesterday and the best answer from replies was a Woop band. The team has sponsorship and the riders wear them, you can even see Pogačar's tanlines on his right wrist from normal use. Christen had the same too

x is often silent... but not always, eg Aix-les-Bains near Decathlon team HQ. Was watching Volta ao Algarve when he won a stage and local TV pronounced his name the Portuguese way, nice to hear. Great grandfather came from Portugal so name has been "Frenchified" for generations but no right or wrong

think Pogačar saw Emimen and Thibau Nys. He was born after the Festina affair
