➡️ Codex emerged as the clear winner. Claude Code has performed well in resolving complex bugs previously, but it lagged behind Codex in this test. Mistral Vibe often generates compiler errors, suitable for routine tasks but lacks depth. As a “Go European” advocate, I hope to see improvement 🇪🇺🧠
3️⃣ Claude Code got on the right track after 7 attempts and had the epiphany 💡 after 11 attempts.
My usage limit expired significantly faster than with Codex.
2️⃣ Codex got on the right track after 4 attempts. The 6th one was its epiphany that fixed it:
💡 The audio engine was already fixed, but audio input permission was never requested (via Info.plist)
1️⃣ Mistral Vibe got on the right track right away but then regressed 📉. After 10 attempts it produced countless compiler errors. Its response:
“The file is in a severely corrupted state. At this point, the best approach is to revert.” 😂
So I did, but gave up after 16 prompts in total.
➡️ The prompt: “Fix audio recording on macOS, which results in an empty file. The log output is: …”
ℹ️ The project: A large C++ codebase that includes an audio engine.
🔄 The approach: After each change by the AI, I tested the app and provided it with the result (mostly “issue persists” and the log).
Today I conducted a real-world comparison of 3 AI coding agents:
1️⃣ Mistral Vibe CLI (devstral-2) 🇫🇷
2️⃣ OpenAI Codex (GPT-5.3-Codex-xhigh) 🇺🇸
3️⃣ Claude Code (Opus 4.6) 🇺🇸
I tasked them with a fix requiring audio API knowledge and out-of-the-box thinking.
