Now the fight continues at city council meetings, like Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace wehre residents have successfully convinced their councils to cancel Flock contracts instead of waiting for SB-6002 to become the green light for turning the cameras back on.

SB 6002 legitimizes Flock usage an adds very soft guardrails. It’s now on Ferguson’s desk awaiting signature :

Washingtonians found a way to get Flock surveillance data: public records requests. 6 cities, including Mt. Vernon, responded by turning off their cameras. Now the legislature just voted to close that loophole entirely

PSE is raising electric rates for 1.3 million customers and cutting them for their only “special contract” customer.

That customer is Microsoft.

Residential: +16.75%
Microsoft: -12.49%

Protesters had planned to attend the Hunts Point town council meeting because Mayor John Sabey is a landlord to ICE in Tukwila through the Sabey Corporation.

Hunts Point just cancelled this meeting citing “lack of agenda items, a reason not recognized under Washington’s Open Public Meetings Act.

This is good news to the people that have consistently been reaching out Mayor Franklin and urging her to take action

Permantly disabling Flock surveillance and passing a memorandum banning any ICE detention facilities would be a great next step

Everett’s mayor just issued new directives in response to future ICE presence:

• Officers are instructed to take action if they observe excessive force commited by ICE/CBP
• ICE prohibited from entering city owned areas
• Everett police are required to record interactions

Unfortunately Olympia is trying to remove our ability to submit records requests for Flock footage, allowing them to turn the cameras back on with little transparency from the public
