Sustainable Mobility for Langston Boulevard VDOT has some draft "safety, operational, transit, and bicycle/pedestrian improvements" along Langston Boulevard between Veitch Street and Key Bridge. Some of the proposed improvements are great and deserve our support and others need to go back to the drawing board. The new raised crosswalks / speed tables are much needed, and separating trail crossings from turning traffic at the Intersection of Doom is a long-overdue safety upgrade.Β  The improvements at Lynn and the slip lane to Eastbound I-66, however, are inscrutable and counter-productive and the intersection most in need of a raised crosswalk isn't getting one? With FIVE Vision Zero hotspots within the study area, calming traffic and reigning in motor vehicle speeds must be a priority.

🚨🚨DEADLINE: TODAY Thu 12/4🚨🚨
Take 10 minutes for the VDOT STARS study for Langston Boulevard! With FIVE Vision Zero Hotspot intersections, the need for improvements is great!

Doctor's Run Park: Both Journey and Destination Doctor's Run is an important park.Β  It's a community gathering space, picnic area, volleyball venue, playground, and it's also an important transportation connection for those walking, biking, and scooting.Β  The existing trail through Doctor's Run Park is part of the 12th St S Bicycle Boulevard, providing a safe place for people to bike & scoot parallel to Columbia Pike, and an important route for students at Randolph Elementary.Β  As the Barcroft Apartments grow and evolve under their new ownership, this connection will only become more important. Speak up for the importance of the trail and path connections through the Park (and make sure the updated playground is great while you're at it). The existing trail is too steep, too windy, too narrow, has several steep drop-offs, and does not connect to 12th Rd S, which is the planned route for the bicycle boulevard extension through Barcroft. The renovation completely fails to connect the updated amenities to the existing trail making access very circuitous for families with strollers or kids on bikes!

🚨🚨Deadline: TODAY (11/14)🚨🚨
Make Doctor's Run Park more than a park, make it a safe, comfortable connection for people walking & biking - whether to school at Randolph ES, or to jobs, restaurants, and shopping at the Pike's great businesses!
