I've said before that the MAGA movement was essentially the subtext of the GOP made text. A feature of that has been the lesson that all the base motivations of reactionaries (racism, misogyny, looting of the public coffers, etc) no longer need be masked in the appearance of a commitment to norms

It's been discussed more in the context of the Manosphere, but: A consequence of being fully submerged in the Trump-era for over a decade is that an entire generation of reactionary-minded men (mostly) have come of age in a social landscape where shamelessness & cruelty are aspirational traits.
