You've got mail! Ty and Aidan dig into reader mail, including favourite villains, and more!
YouTube video by FunFactor Podcast
It's FunFactor Fuuuuuuuuesday!
As we wrap up season one, @tyschalter.com and I dig into reader mail and answer banger questions like "how would you make the perfect gaming mag" and "who're your favourite villains?" and "how much does Aidan hate and love video production?"
It's a doozy.

To the Marathon crew trying to take down the boss which spawned in Overflow, I'm not sorry for sneaking in while you were all preoccuped and knocking you all with a knife to the back. It was very funny.

A screenshot showing 24 Japanese magazine cover thumbnails on archive.org They're Nintendo's Family Computer Magazine's 1987 issues.
Awesome news! @ozidual.bsky.social edited the full run of the 1987 Famimaga (Nintendo's Family Computer Magazine) magazines that I scanned a while back which means they're so much easier to flip through and read now! Check them out: archive.org/details/@ozi...

Seems like there's probably more story behind this and why the $44m figure was sprung on them. But it feels like we're waist-deep in the future I've been worried about for like 10 years where the people with money are turning away from new, unproven single-player games for good

Was Final Fantasy VII too linear?
Ty and Aidan dig into OPM's 1997 review of Final Fantasy VII and look at how its criticism's that the classic game is "too linear" match with creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's cinematic ambitions.

I always found this critique to be so strange & it's the same reason I love Remake & not Rebirth.
The Midgar section is so tight & compelling narratively while showing you the ropes. It goes off the rails when you aimlessly search for Sephiroth for an entire disc, before finding its footing again.
