I react like the aliens from Blindsight whenever I come across LLM-written text.

“The signal functions to consume the resources of the recipient for zero payoff and reduced fitness. The signal is a virus. The signal is an attack.”

Our job is to make it hard for them to isolate out individuals and small groups that they can demonize. Our job is to support the people in these edge cases. Because every bit of pushback they receive makes it harder for them to move onto the next people they'd like to target.

LOW DIVORCE RATES DON'T INDICATE GOOD MARRIAGES:

THEY REFLECT WOMEN'S DISCOURAGEMENT FROM FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE AND PRESSURE TO REMAIN IN UNHAPPY UNIONS.

I feel like it should be more widely unpopular that in the past year we’ve witnessed the creation of an American Stasi required to meet arrest quotas who utilize an AI technology created by a company run by a sweaty raisin of a billionaire who thinks Greta Thunberg is the antichrist.

It is very easy to read statements like this as a joke.

This is not a joke.

We have proven with AI, completely by accident, what knowledgeable people have been saying for decades: the environment that rich people live in gives them a very specific personality disorder.

Vindicated At Last In My Years-Long Loathing Of Grammarly | Defector I first learned about the AI writing assistant Grammarly nearly a decade ago, when their YouTube ads suddenly sprang into ubiquity, clinging to my precious videos like a swarm of spotted lanternflies....

I wrote about a company that had bad vibes from the jump

If you want to push back against platform censorship like what now happened with subscribestar, you need to call your reps and demand opposition to these bills/policies

Get family and friends involved. Explain the stakes in clear terms.

If hormones, or puberty blockers, were so dangerous, nobody would be allowed them.

That some people are and that trans kids can even, notionally at least, stay on them if already prescribed, tells you all you need to know.

More importantly, the war we saw was the war as media spectacle, with real-time missile cam footage, sanitized news briefings, and carefully controlled information. It was designed to be consumed rather than experienced, which is where digital technology and photography come in. If war is something we only engage with through screens, images, and curated narratives, then it becomes more simulation than reality.
That's Baudrillard's whole point-modern war is structured not around battle, but around perception.

_The Gulf War Did Not Take Place_ seems especially relevant right now. i can’t help but feel like Baudrillard is the post-modernist who most understood where our world was going, and has ultimately been proven right.

Not sure, it's the kind of ongoing, frustrating pains that shows up in a lot of King's stuff. Dark Tower has an infected wound subplot, Misery has the broken bones and painkillers thing. I think that the way that people change after being in pain for a while makes it easier for make a horror story?

I made piplup a shower and then I went to show it to piplup and when we got back to the shower, prinplup was already using it.
