A bit of a different video than usual, but today I talk about turning 25 and what I've learned from that experience. The answer may surprise you. I also reflect on the state of the channel. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpen...

My birthday haul, for anyone who may be curious.
Well said Mr. Busiek.
The Searcher from Tana French is a magnificent novel. French is as good as Stephen King when it comes to creating fictional communities. Itβs not so much a crime novel as it is an Irish community novel that happens to have a crime in it. I look forward to reading more Tana French.
Last podcast I recorded in 2024! Today I have on Johnathan from The Everyman Reads and we talk about all things fantasy, mostly really old fantasy. Give it a watch! www.youtube.com/watch?v=c468...
My birthday's coming up and I'm back from Florida, so I wanted to check in with the community while at it. Britton's Social Club is coming back. Open invite as always. It's at 2:45PM Central. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJOM...
March is here, so you know what that means. Here's all the books I read in February and even some footage from when I was in Florida. Give it a look, tell me what you read in February! www.youtube.com/watch?v=upfA...
Today, it is James Ellroy's birthday. The Demon Dog of Crime Literature. To commemorate the occasion, I had on Steve Powell to talk about his biography on Ellroy, Love Me Fierce in Danger. Give it a watch! www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWa-...
My first big Morrison book for the Morrisonathon. I got Animal Man waiting for me when I get home from Florida.
I donβt know why itβs always the more throwaway stuff that gets the most clicks.
Weβve gotten cynical.
I hope not. Everything seems performative nowadays.
Do you man.
Tatjana Wood, alongside being the wife of the legendary Wally Wood, did magnificent work on Alan Moore, John Totleben, and Steve Bissette's seminal Swamp Thing run. Though she was long in years, I am nonetheless saddened to hear of her passing. RIP.
I hate to sound like one of those virtue signalers. But he always came off like a massive douche. This is just horrific.
I just finished my re-read of CS Lewisβ The Great Divorce, not quite as impactful from when I first read it. But there are still some interesting thoughts about heaven, hell, and humanityβs inability to get out of its own way. Some food for thought.
I am now officially in Florida.
Before I head out to Florida, I wanted to give you all an episode of Britton's Hang Out Hour to remember me by. Today I have on Noelle D as we talk about books, self-publishing, and whatever else comes to mind! www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-su...
Britton's Social Club is coming back for an episode before I head out to Florida. 2:30 Central. Come on in and hang out for a while. Open invite as always: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZob...
The Good Lord Bird is in one word, a hoot. A remarkably funny and sometimes moving retelling of John Brownβs infamous raid on Harperβs Ferry. A masterful tragicomic adventure worthy of Twain.
I wrote a review of Larry McMurtry's 1985 epic western Lonesome Dove. Did I get it right? Did I get it wrong? Feel free to let me know...once you've read it of course...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2923026220
Black History Month is among us and I wanted to give some recommendations to commemorate the occasion. I also wanted to give you all a nice meaty video before I head back to Florida, give it a watch! www.youtube.com/watch?v=wibG...

I wrote a new review, today it's for Chester Himes' noir classic A Rage in Harlem. I can't wait to get to the other books in the series. www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
βAnd in the end, it was them, these loved ones, these brave Black women β including the one who escaped by outsmarting him β who finally took this depraved serial killer down.β
It's been a month, but we are back. Britton's Social Club is back in action. I am a bit sick, but not enough to not do this show! Open invite as always! We'll start at 2:30PM central time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yULI...
While itβs not as sublimely magnificent as Coltrane: Story of a Sound, Ben Ratliffβs The Jazz Ear is a solid compilation of interviews with jazz musicians about their taste in music and what they hear when they listen to jazz. A solid read, particularly for jazz nuts.
Today, I repay the favor to Jay of A Contemplative Reader fame for having me on to discuss Born Again by having him on my channel to discuss Craig Thompson's Blankets! Check it out! www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynM0...
Abraham Lincoln is my motherfucker. It's a bit odd for pro-small government, classical liberal me to call Abraham Lincoln, who was pro-centralized government, to be his favorite president. But a man has to respect game. A happy birthday to my favorite president, Abraham Lincoln.
James Marsden.
Also Sam Bradford. He even has a street named after him.
