In 2026 weβre deciding to stick with a crowd that feels home. Weβve struggled all year to find our people, and the βDIYβ scene just doesnβt seem to be the answer.
If anyone knows where Scarlet Street belongs, let us know.
It's really easy to move away from Spotify and stop funding this shit.
Buying physical media from artists you love will get you into heaven* Hereβs Pretty Bitterβs Pleaser LP and No Alternative by Scarlet Street on cassette. Listen to both right this second. Well not both at the same time. One and then the other. They are so great. * = this statement has not been verified
Music this week: scarlet street. Banquets. Camp trash. Dead billionaires. Dikembe. Magazine beach. Saturdays at your place. Broken record. Pretty bitter. Weakened friends. Bent shapes. The Menzingers. The Carolyn. Josaleigh Pollett & Crowd Shy. Kerosene heights. Stay inside.

new apfo newsletter! it's APFO LP2's one year anniversary. i reflect on the first four songs on the record, and include voice memos and demos from January 2022, when those songs were written.
i even included a demo from an unreleased song from that period called "Look At Love"
What Iβm noticing more and more is that people donβt care if something is AI. They like it because itβs entertaining/shares their world view. Itβs a losing battle to appeal to these people based on merits of stealing from artists or the environment. They just literally do not care.
Going to post more on here from now on. What have we missed while we were gone?
Ben Quad ska song confirmed
I wrote about some good new music for you to check out.
Ekko Astral: βtheir raw power is magicβ
Scarlet Street: βa beacon in the fogβ
Broken Record: βemo Gin Blossoms
Dead Billionaires: βpowerful, incisive, catchy songsβ
Banquets: βsoaring melodic punk anthemsβ
Had a guy in a local band tell me he βdoesnβt fuck with all the trans people in the sceneβ to which I replied βis it because theyβre so much better at music than you?β
He did not like that answer, lmao. Get fucked bozo.
Might as well just say βI donβt fuck with the scene.β
Trans people ARE the DIY scene.
Always a joy to read these. They honestly make me feel less crazy
New post! Great new music from @ekkoastral.bsky.social, @scarletstreet.co, @brokenrecord.bsky.social, Dead Billionares, & Banquets. Plus more on the "athletically allergic" and "pathetic" ICE recruits who can't pass an open-book test.
NO ALTERNATIVE is about what happens when the chaos becomes normal, when truth gets replaced by algorithm, & when everything has a price tag.
This is the heaviest thing weβve done, not just in music but in its purpose. Itβs for anyone who feels buried and hopeless

Anyways happy Friday
People need to understand the psychology behind fascist and right-wing ideology. Weβve been told to ignore their intolerance so as not to legitimize them, but the opposite is true: they see the lack of response to their action as victory. Itβs when they are met with response that they stand down
This comes out in 48 hours. We worked really hard on it, itβs the most ambitious thing weβve ever done and weβre mega nervous about what people will think.

We're doing VHS Cassettes for this one! They'll be on sale tomorrow on bandcamp for $20. They are playable in a VCR and contains a collage of footage from the recording process and lyrics alongside the songs. The Cassette will also have RFID access to a digital copy of the LP on Samply.
Iβm so glad you all did this. We wanted to do this for No Alternative but sort of forgot
And since this has no meaningful impact, the tastemakers have none either. To fill the void, culture is now selected by the most powerful; the rich or the well connected.
The βpromiseβ of social media was that anyoneβs message could get out there. What actually happened is just power consolidation
It really does feel like social media is just TV static. People post on here, theyβll promote their bands or movements or, but no meaningful change has occurred. Itβs just noise. Nothing gained, only time lost.
The wave of the future.
People on twitter want memes and video game references and Iβm not really sure theyβll be receptive to an album about meaningful purpose and societal systems collapsing. Will Bluesky?
Because so far we havenβt seen too much love here, either.
