A close-up photograph of Saturn's rings, captured by NASAβs Cassini spacecraft. The rings appear as wide, textured bands of beige, tan, and gold, stretching diagonally across the frame. To the left of the rings is the black void of space, featuring two tiny, bright white dots. In the upper-left corner, a much thinner ring of Saturn is visible.
This is an up-close photo of Saturn's rings, but it also shows so much more. Those two little dots are actually the Earth and Moon as seen from over 1.4 billion kilometers away by the Cassini spacecraft. Everything you know and love is on that dot.

not that the present economic picture is rosy, but i do think that popular culture β and specifically nostalgia bait television β is a big part of the reason that our public memory of the 1970s, 1980s and even 1990s seems to miss the real economic pain that marked each of those decades.

Back in the day, Twitter used to be really good if I set up a thread to connect freelancers with clients. Let's see if Bluesky can do it.
Clients: if you're looking for freelancers/contractors, get in the comments

Everyone else: boosts appreciated
An image of various nebula spanning from the running chicken nebula to the banana nebula.
I experiemented with a widefield image of the Carina area using a Sigma 105mm DG HSM Art at f2, ZWO ASI2600MC Pro, and ZWO AM5. This was two hours (24x300 seconds) with an optolong l-ultimate. A good learning experience printing AF, tracking mounts, and other bits and pieces.

An image of the Aurora Australis spanning the night sky in red and green with the ocean coastline slightly visible. There is also a group of people huddled in the darkness taking pictures with their smartphones and dslr cameras.
We had a pretty good Aurora Australis show to start the week. Rakaia River / Coastline, Canterbury NZ 01-06-25

I've spent the better half of the last month pulling together this report with the team at @zeroheight.com and so happy that it's finally out!
We asked just under 300 DS folks about their teams, systems, challenges and ways of working to get a state of the industry
An image depicting tropical cyclone Alfred winds off the South East Queensland and North West New South Wales Australia coastline. It is heading West towards Brisbane, Queensland at the moment.
Well, hello there. Hope everyone stays safe and tries not to buy up all the water and toilet paper, or at least shares some with their neighbors.

Vertical view looking up at the ngVLA prototype antenna, dish securely in place on its pedestal. The prototype telescope is white and backlit against a bright, clear blue sky. A person is visible in the center of the telescope, showing its scale.
A large crane getting ready to lift a big, geometric metal structure - the ngVLA prototype antenna dish. The sky behind the crane and dish is brilliant blue with faint wispy clouds.
Webcam image showing the ngVLA prototype construction site at sunset. The large white antenna dish is sitting upon its pedestal. In the background, you can see the desert mountains, two VLA dishes, and the colorful sunset skies.
Some pictures from last week when the ngVLA prototype antenna dish was lifted (by 2 GIANT cranes) onto its pedestal!

Congrats. I recently put together a mosaic of a region of Vela, such a great area and my favorite right now. I like your take!
An image of a region of Vela with many interesting objects and large Super Nova Remnant.
For reference, this is my Mosaic of a region of Vela that I reviewed for interesting subjects to crop out.

And here are some more interesting crops from my Vela mosaic.

After a mosaic of a region of Vela, I pulled some crops of interesting subjects. I am enjoying the hunt for information regarding the Vela region and larger Gum Nebula.

Sorry, just saw this comment. The image is a single shot / stack. The ASI183MC sensor is smaller than the ASI2600MC giving you a smaller FOV.
Hereβs a new blog about Design System team structure.
On the surface it looks like Iβm suggesting you need 17 people.
Whisper: Iβm actually suggesting you are expected to do 17 peopleβs work whatever the size of your team.

A 3x2 panel mosaic of the Large Magellanic Cloud
