Its me! With actual real people!
Are you heading to #dublincomiccon this weekend?
You might just get a chance to check out a little project we've been quietly working on with the wonderful @stefscribbles.bsky.social @meowniiart.bsky.social and @codebirduk.bsky.social
We're looking for feedback!
Come tell us what you think!
Dave over at @wadjeteyegames.bsky.social might have an answer for this.
πΆ Hello mah baby

a shirt design featuring a skateboarding boy who may look somewhat similar to a famous skateboarding boy from a cartoon but it's impossible to know for sure because there's a black bar over his eyes, holding his own severed head and saying "anything subversive or countercultural can and will be commodified and re-absorbed by existing social order, defanged and neutralized, reduced to an aesthetic pose. No product can ever be radical, man." in blue and red on white
My new shirt design is so powerful that part of it had to be redacted for the preview image

I was ready for what I thought would be the tough questions. "Why is the sky blue?" Or like "how do computers work?"
My daughter hitting me with the real hard hitting questions at bedtime like - "why do they call it *MY* little pony? Nobody owns them. Why not Wild Little Pony?"
update on the little game we've been working on! building my perfect town β€οΈ
I want that gif, you the one? Of the lady getting hit in the face with loads of hotdogs?
Only if someone edited it to be Next Fest demos instead of hotdogs

Image from the "Cabin head and Tree head" comic. A watercolor drawing of a cartoon guy with a tree on his head, standing in a hole. He is waving a small spade and saying "Keep your doubts away from my hole!"
Some days I just need more of this energy
A man in glasses and a bushy mustache stands at a lectern slumped over, next to an easel with a poster with a picture of him and the words "meet the author". He says "Ok, uh, audience questions? Anyone have any questions about my book that aren't just you giving me a longwinded personal story?" Someone from the audience asks "I thought the way your story focused on the long-lasting trauma of witnessing a zeppelin crash was a powerful allegory-" "What?" the author cuts him off, "where are you getting this from? That's not what the story is about." The author looks incredibly mad, and says "perceiving me or my ideas in any way other than how i would prefer is an act of violence against me. You are sick. You are an ideas terrorist." The author brandishes a copy of his book. "You are going to take in my ideas exactly as I put them out. I am going to make you eat this book."
question and answer
My favorite bit of advice from my mobile dev days was "if you're not embarrassed by the soft launch, you've waited too long"
I honestly think if you're not a black hole of cringe for your first small playtests then you've definitely wasted some of that dev time
Started playing "A Little To The Left" - immediately felt the dad guilt of not properly cleaning up my own home. Couldn't deal. Back to Ball x Pit.
Playtest your game when you're still uncomfortable about how ready it is. Use the feedback to prioritize what your doing and make cuts. Use it to hone the core vision of the game. If its not exactly and clearly in the vision, cut. Playtest again. Repeat.
"Please! Mr. Chef was my father. You can call me Johnny"
I like how this screenshot implies that I gave explicit permission via emoji react, when in fact those emoji came from @jayebur.bsky.social and this is a form of astroturfing.
Siiiiiick. Thanks!
By any chance Ben, do you have a good "idiots guide" to setting up a decent survey for the average low budget indie game?
We did some surveys with our last game but I was always suspicious we were fucking it up.
This looks like a neat little guide
We took a version of this to a gamedev meet up late last year and it was a great time. Seeing games go past the "here are some cubes" stage of development is always one of my favorite bits
It's nice to be able to look at a project and say "last time we did X, so *this time* we'll do Y"
Re-reading some old copies of @patchmagazine.bsky.social I picked up last year. It really is just a lovely little zine.
I don't have her details I'm afraid. Chat via DM? I'm mostly interested in understanding the current path for the 2000AD IPs into games - and if we can make something interesting!
