Oops I almost forgot the ref. I normally mash a few references together if I use them but I wanted to focus on color more than composition so I used a direct reference this time to save time.

Nayeli is a supporting character and love interest to Aaliyah. She's the lead singer and bassist in a local jazz-punk fusion band called the Midnight Magnolias. She's a regular at the coffee shop Aaliyah works at :^)

Both are characters from a webcomic I am working on.

Aaliyah is the main character. She's a barista at a coffee shop and a college student; studying computer science. She has an upbeat personality and enjoys sci-fi and anime fandom culture (cons, cosplay, etc.)

Alternate version because I was playing with layer effects at the end. I've never really used layer effects before 🤔

I failed at 3 & 4 because the painterly brushes were going to make me chew my arm off, and I'm an impatient bitch LOL. So I just did low contrast and no line art. I think the real evil art challenge for me would be to make me spend more than 10 hrs on something, my patience is definitely my weakness

So the challenge is to do the opposite of what you normally do for your art style. I decided to keep my character style the same and focus on my techniques. Techniques I chose that are opposite of what I normally do are:
1) no line art
2) low contrast/no black
3) high detail
4) painterly rendering

I tried the "evil art style challenge" and got fed up so quickly and cut a bunch of corners 😂 notes and ref in the comments
