Thanks again!! π
It was very fun to guest on this -- this was such a uniquely difficult, extremely VH1 circa 2004 album to parse, and I loved going through why
also the fact that it existed at the same time as american apparel and a mere month before Movement By LCD Soundsystem was released blows my mind

Take another trip AROUND THE SUN with us and special guest @dvi-socialmode.bsky.social as we unpack the identity crisis of R.E.M.'s weird 13th LP, art & cultural response in the wake of another invasion of Iraq, and how Y2K revivalism formed and categorized across digital borders in the late 2010s.
train are the worst band in human history right like itβs not close
I have this BBC set and it's extremely good
Schedule update! We've had to push back our Accelerate recording because life happens, and Around The Sun is the only one I've got left in the bank, so I'm gonna postpone the release of that episode by a week as well since we're accidentally on an every-3-weeks pace anyway this season lol.
I like the acoustic ver too. After we wrap R.E.M. on silent discog, Adam and I (and Andre if he wants) are gonna go back and cover that and the last Slowdive record to get caught up.
I'm on my Bob Mould shit I hope that's okay

WOW
My actual answer is Supernatural Superserious off of Accelerate but it doesnβt sound like any Mega Man songs unless the Protomen did a thing about Mega Man having his queer awakening at summer camp
My brain knows there is no way that the Mega Man composer heard an early REM song that was then only available on bootlegs and thought βI am going to make an all-time banger that sounds exactly like thisβ but my heart wants to believe.
thats him in the corner, that`s him in the spotlight

Plenty of things suck now but a source of light for me these days is that @elmore.zone, @brend.bsky.social, @dcarena.bsky.social and I have been back at it casting pod about racing games on a regular basis and we're finally ready to share the goods
@pizzadinosaur.fineti.me you're gonna love this one bud
