Swear I've never been happier to see a bumblebee in my life. They love the meadow, so I hope I can give them one this year, it's pretty buried, but I'm cutting open the sward a layer at a time.

I'm worried you're still in the fallout zone.

Best one yet! - I want to ask which one is typing but I suppose I should count the opposable thumbs.

don't worry about following me back, I know I'm a bitter pill sometimes, and I take no offence, but thank you :)

When I don't know how to support people going through a hard time, the only thing I can think of saying is "I see you, I hear you, I witness." People need to know someone still gives a damn.

And I do. About you too, dear cousins.

I see you, I hear you, I witness.

All of you.

I am so sorry. It must be so infuriating. I see you, I hear you, I witness.

complete, unrelated tangent: did you get those LED working in the end?

I think we will eventually have to get to that point, but I'm frustrated everyone seems to want to wait until things get dire and desperate first.

And annoyed that seems to be what it will take.

Forsythia finally starting to bloom in the hedge. Finally, I can believe spring is coming.

Lost in Translation Yoruba in its idiomatic purity lends itself to miscommunication

I laughed myself silly writing this years ago. It contains a paragraph translated directly from Yoruba to English with ridiculous results. But there is a deeper message here. Languages also express the inexpressible. Translation often needs a human mind and soul.

Gynaecology would like a word...and probably could do with an update since the same barbaric practices are still in use and we are told that it's all "just a few cramps" when procedures are agony.

I got hit with "covid doesn't kill kids". Person doubled down when I tried to explain that, no, covid killed a lot of kids.

Apparently, covid isn't that big of a deal compared to measles...I...actually I don't know what to say.

I am very happy to live in my quiet house away from folks tbh.

Witches of Scotland seeks justice for nearly 4,000 accused witches (mostly women) from 1563–1736. Founded in 2020 by Claire Mitchell KC and Zoe Venditozzi, the campaign works to secure legal pardons, a government apology, and a national memorial.

I get almost as many comments about how ugly or fat I am on my workout posts as I did on my posts before I started lifting. I’m not asking for sympathy. I just want to remind Black women that the point isn’t if we are pretty or skinny or not. The point is they want us to not exist.🙄

Dear everyone,

As per the post from the Bodleian librarian below, AI bots and scrapers are putting just about every website under great pressure, British History Online included.

A lot of excellent tech staff are working hard to keep everything working, but outages and siruptions are inevitable.

Yes. Yes this was actually a thing and the whole basis of the Cass report and why being a trans child is now outlawed and I don't even know how to EXPLAIN this ish to anyone...

A lovely mossy boulder with a face. I walked past this venerable stone gentleman on Dartmoor when I was beginning to write my first novel, Villager, and it whispered all 104,000 words of the book to me. So now I have to pay it all of my royalties. Unfortunately my ex-publisher stopped paying me royalties last year. Understandable, the boulder was not happy. But now I have a new publisher and the book is being republished this Thursday. So remember if you purchase a copy you will be helping a boulder to eat, pay the rent on his riverside moss garden, and feed his boulder family.

Yes it could be argued that keeping up with world events is important but alternatively can I interest you in hugging an ancient mossy boulder that looks like a face and quietly listening while it tells you stories from centuries cloaked in mist.

Bonus points if you can find a way to tell Deputy PM David Seymour, in professional-sounding language, that he's a fucking bellend who's making schools worse for teachers, students and parents alike.

Thank you for your time.

Email and pest---er, politely entreat the following MPs of NZ Parliament to take the rights of disabled people and their families seriously, by making support and education more inclusive and accessible.

I mean...we don't have to let them. We do kinda outnumber those guys. There's blood in the water, and that's why the billionaires are starting to run for their bunkers now. They can see the pitchforks and torches on the horizon.

Any assembly by anyone not the right shade of white always had the May Cause Disruption police clause. Meanwhile a bunch of farmers blockading streets with tractors because they don't wanna pay tax is tickety-boo.
